About this file

This document appears to be a set of specifications and requirements for a federal contract opportunity to upgrade a water tower for the VA Sioux Falls Health Care System (VASFHCS). The key details are:

The contractor is required to provide all services necessary to fully renovate and upgrade the VASFHCS water tower, including installing a new construction fence, accessing and potentially replacing bypass valves, taking the tower out of service and maintaining water service, installing new manways and other equipment, repainting the interior and exterior, converting the navigation lights to LED, and installing a new security fence. The contractor must also provide a plan to bring the tower back into potable water service and provide all required certifications, testing, and training for VA staff. The period of performance is 180 calendar days. The contractor is required to follow all VA rules and regulations, maintain a safe and clean jobsite, and coordinate all utility interruptions and disruptions to the facility. Asbestos and lead abatement are not anticipated to be major issues. The contractor is cautioned that the center line fall protection system on the existing access ladder is non-functional and all workers must use double hook-up when accessing the ladder.
