About this file
This Statement of Work details requirements for floor leveling and epoxy coating at the Coherent Diffraction Imaging (CDI) beamline satellite endstation building at Brookhaven National Laboratory's NSLS-II facility. The project requires achieving a floor surface flatness of +/- 1.5mm over a specified area to allow installation of the Two Detector Motion System (TDMS).
The contractor must level the concrete floor by building up 1/4 to 1 inch thickness and apply an epoxy coating, with specific requirements including: measuring floor elevation on a 12-inch grid pattern, using Laticrete leveling concrete (or equivalent), applying Stonlux SL epoxy flooring system with 2mm minimum thickness, and providing dust mitigation using HEPA vacuum equipment. BSA will provide survey/marking services, construct an aluminum dam around the work area, maintain HVAC conditions, and verify flatness specifications. Key deliverables include SDS/TDS documentation, equipment cutsheets, and color charts with proposal submission, plus JHA within one week after award. Work is scheduled for 20 days in November 2024, with normal working hours Monday-Friday 8:30AM-5:00PM. The contractor must warranty materials and workmanship for one year after completion.

Statement of Work 1
Statement of Work
Title CDI Satellite Building Floor Levelling and Epoxy Coating SOW Version No. 4
Project Objective The Coherent Diffraction Imaging (CDI) beamline at NSLS-II requires a floor surface flatness of +/-
1.5 mm over full range of the dashed line section shown below, in the newly constructed satellite endstation building (SEB) to allow installation of the experimental Two Detector Motion System (TDMS). The scope of this Statement of Work is to first level the area defined below by building up with concrete approximately ¼ in to 1 in thick until the required flatness is achieved, and then apply an epoxy coating to protect the levelled surface from wear. The concrete layer shall be a minimum of 1/4 in thick at the high point in the existing floor. The current floor height deviation mapping is shown in Figure 1.
Figure 1. CDI SEB FLOOR HEIGHT DEVIATION MAPPING
Project Scope This SOW covers the following activities.
The Contractor shall be responsible for the following:
1. Prepare the existing concrete floor to be leveled by scarifying or grinding (if applicable to reduce high spots) the area within the dashed outline, as shown in Brookhaven Science Associates (BSA) drawing SK-PD-CDI-2003. It is critical that the Contractor shall mitigate dust generation using equipment with HEPA vacuum attachments, and portable clean

2. The Contractor shall measure the floor elevation with a precision digital water level at points on a 12-inch grid pattern. At each point on the grid the Contractor shall place pins cut to the exact height that the levelled surface will be at that point.
3. Laticrete levelling concrete (or equivalent – subject to review and approval by BSA) shall be mixed and poured to the top of the pins which shall remain in the concrete.
4. Once the concrete layer is walkable, BSA surveyors shall verify the flatness with a scan of the entire surface.
5. If the flatness is found to be out of tolerance, the contractor shall rework the problematic areas to bring them within tolerance. BSA will verify the reworked sections. This process shall iterate until BSA is satisfied that the entire surface is within tolerance.
6. Upon approval of the concrete surface by BSA, the Contractor shall prepare/scarify the entire surface to prep for the epoxy coat as per the manufacturer’s instructions. It is critical that the Contractor shall mitigate dust generation using equipment with HEPA vacuum attachments, and portable tent (provided by BSA).
7. Upon completion of preparation of the levelled floor surface, the contractor shall apply two coats of primer, and then an epoxy coating layer of Stonlux SL epoxy flooring system (or equivalent approved by BSA) with a minimum thickness of 2mm. Contractor shall allow time for curing between coats as directed by the manufacturer.
8. Contractor shall bring their own tools to the site to perform the measuring of floor elevation, shot-blasting, planetary grinding, mixing, pumping and spreading of levelling grout, application of primer and epoxy coating.
9. Contractor shall clean up all waste materials at the end of each day and dispose in a trash dumpster provided by contractor.
10. Contractor shall be responsible for hauling away and disposal of all waste materials.
11. The Contractor shall warranty the levelled floor materials and workmanship for one year from the completion of the contract.
12. The Contractor shall provide a Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) using the provided template for BSA review 1 week after award of contract. Contractor workers shall complete required training for working at NSLS-II per the JHA.
13. Normal working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30AM – 5:00PM. Work time outside these hours or on weekends must be coordinated and approved by BSA.
BSA will be responsible for:
1. Survey and mark-out of the floor area to be leveled levelled and coated.
2. BSA will construct a dam around the area that will be made from aluminum angle screwed to the floor. Seams in the dam will be covered in painters’ tape to prevent leakage.
3. HVAC prior to the contractor performing work to maintain temperature to at least 60 degrees and control relative humidity during installation and curing of the epoxy coating.
4. 240V/60A/3-phase or 480V/30A/3-phase power source and multiple dedicated 110V/20A outlets.
5. Access to work area through outside door and space in parking lot for dumpster and trucks.
6. Portable dust containment tent.
7. Scanning the cured concrete surface to confirm conformance with the flatness specification after initial cure and after each subsequent rework activity by the Contractor until acceptance of the concrete flatness by BSA.
8. Required oversight during normal working hours, Monday to Friday, 8:30AM – 5:00PM. Work time outside these hours or on weekends must be coordinated and approved by BSA.
