About this file
This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for a floor leveling and epoxy coating project at the Coherent Diffractive Beamline (CDI) satellite endstation building at Brookhaven National Laboratory's NSLS-II facility. The project requires preparing the existing concrete floor, measuring elevations, applying leveling grout, and then coating the surface with an epoxy system. The contractor will be responsible for all work activities outlined in the SOW, including mitigating dust, hauling away waste, and providing a one-year warranty. Brookhaven Science Associates (BSA) will provide support with surveying, HVAC, power, and workspace access. The SOW lists specific deliverables, quality assurance requirements, and a 20-day timeline for completing the leveled and coated floor. This SOW is associated with a Request for Quote (RFQ) solicitation (RFQ-451845) issued by the Department of Energy Office of Science, with a proposal due date of September 19, 2024.

SOW Version No. 1
Project Objective The Coherent Diffractive Beamline (CDI) beamline at NSLS-II requires a floor surface flatness of +/- 1mm over 1 meter in the newly constructed satellite endstation building (SEB) to allow installation of the experimental endstation Two Detector Motion System (TDMS). This project will provide an epoxy coated floor that meets this requirement.
Project Scope This SOW covers the following activities.
The Contractor shall be responsible for the following:
1. Prepare the existing concrete floor to be leveled by scarifying the entire area as shown in BSA drawing SK-PD-CDI-2000. The Contractor shall mitigate dust generation using a HEPA vacuum and portable clean tent (provided by BSA).
2. The Contractor shall measure the floor elevation with a precision water level at points on a 6-inch grid pattern. At each point on the grid the Contractor shall place pins cut to the exact height that the levelled surface will be at that point.
3. Laticrete levelling grout (or equivalent – subject to review and approval by BSA) shall be mixed and poured to the top of the pins which remain in the grout.
4. Once the grout is cured the entire surface shall be prepared/scarified to prep for the epoxy coat. The Contractor shall mitigate dust generation using a HEPA vacuum and portable clean tent (provided by BSA).
5. Upon completion of preparation of the levelled floor surface, the contractor shall apply two coats of primer, then a 2mm epoxy coating layer of Stonlux S1 epoxy flooring system.
6. Contractor shall bring their own tools to the site to perform the measuring of floor elevation, shot-blasting, planetary grinding, mixing, pumping and spreading of levelling grout, application of primer and epoxy coating.
7. Contractor shall clean up all waste materials at the end of each day and dispose in a trash in dumpster provided by contractor.
8. Contractor shall be responsible for hauling away and disposal of all waste materials.
9. The Contractor shall warranty the levelled floor materials and workmanship for one year from the completion of the contract.
10. The Contractor shall provide a Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) using the provided template for BSA review 1 week after award of contract. Contractor workers shall complete required training for working at NSLS-II per the JHA.
BSA will be responsible for:

August 2024 Statement of Work 2
1. Survey and designation of the floor area to be leveled levelled and coated. BSA will construct a dam around the area that will be made from aluminum angle screwed to the floor. Seams in the dam will be covered in painters’ tape to prevent leakage
2. HVAC prior to the contractor performing work to maintain temperature to at least 60 degrees and control relative during installation and curing of the epoxy coating.
3. 240V/60A/3-phase or 480V/30A/3-phase power source and multiple dedicated 110V/20A outlets.
4. Access to work area through outside door and space in parking lot for dumpster and trucks.
5. Portable dust containment tent
