About this file

This file is a Request for Proposal (RFP) note prepared by the City of Detroit for an emergency residential demolition project. The scope of work involves the demolition of a severely damaged and collapsing two-story, two-family brick dwelling garage located at 3258 Glendale (Building 102) in Detroit, Michigan. The project is classified as an emergency demolition due to the imminent public safety hazard posed by the structure. The rear garage has collapsed to ground level, with remaining damaged framed walls dangerously leaning and at risk of total collapse. The garage, which is open and unsecured, is located along a rear alley right-of-way and presents a blighting influence on the property. The site also contains disabled vehicles in the rear yard. The awarded contractor must complete the work within emergency timelines regardless of whether frost laws are in effect. The BSEED Inspector recommends making the garage safe through emergency demolition only, with the concrete slab permitted to remain in place.

The contractor selected for this project must utilize backfill material sourced from a Category 2 approved source as listed on the City of Detroit Backfill platform. No fire occurrence date is applicable to this emergency demolition project. The RFP does not specify pricing terms, contract duration, award dates, or other financial details within the provided notes, which are preliminary instructions for inclusion in the formal solicitation document rather than a complete RFP.
