About this file

This Questions and Answers document pertains to asbestos abatement services for the Illinois Department of Human Services at the Elisabeth Ludeman Center in Park Forest, Illinois. The project involves removal of asbestos-containing materials from two buildings, with specific square footage requirements outlined for each location. Building 43 requires partial removal of damaged tiles in the living room (225 sq ft), hallways (20 sq ft), and laundry room (105 sq ft), plus complete flooring removal in four bedrooms (752 sq ft combined). Building 52 has similar scope with partial removal in the living room (225 sq ft), hallways (180 sq ft), and laundry room (105 sq ft), with complete removal of flooring in four bedrooms (752 sq ft combined). All square footage figures are provided as estimates and subject to verification.

The Ludeman Center has specified that mastic removal must be performed using the grinding method rather than solvent-based approaches, with HEPA vacuums required throughout the entire abatement process for dust control purposes. This methodology requirement reflects the center's preference for containment and air quality management during the asbestos removal operations. Bidders should note these technical specifications when preparing proposals and cost estimates for this project.
