About this file

This document is a Questions & Answers (Q&A) file for the City of Lafayette's Public Library Hydraulic Elevator Modernization & Warranty Maintenance project (LI0105). The document details two key questions from potential bidders, with responses clarifying project specifics. A mandatory bid walk is scheduled for June 16th from 8:30AM to 10AM MST at the library address, which all interested elevator bidders are required to attend. The Q&A addresses details about related building work, specifying that the City of Lafayette will handle certain trade items including minor electrical work, tile patching, LED lighting installation, cab diffuser replacement, and ladder repositioning in the pit.

The document indicates that the modernization vendor will be responsible for repairing any holes or damage caused during the project. The Q&A provides clarification on the scope of work, specifically that elevator companies will not be including certain trade items in their bid. The mandatory job walk will serve as an opportunity to discuss "Work by Others" and provide additional context about the project's specific requirements and expectations. Bidders are directed to review the Bidnet Request information screen for pre-bidding event details and are advised that any damage caused during modernization must be repaired by the vendor.

Q1 Question: Mandatory Job Walk

The schedule of activities says there is a Mandatory Vendor walk 1 week after publication however I do not see any official date and time for the mandatory Vendor walk. Is this going to be held for all interested elevator bidders or do we all need to set up our own time to survey the project?

Answer: The mandatory bid walk is for all interested bidders and is being held at the library address from 8:30AM MST to 10AM MST. We have included this information in the Bidnet under the “Pre-

Bidding Events” section of the Bidnet Request information screen

Q2 Question: Modernization Bid Form

The Modernization Bid Form states under Letter C that ‘Related Building work WILL NOT BE

INCLUDED. Are you meaning that the City of Lafayette is not handling the related trade items that need to be completed to pass code. Or…are you meaning the City of Lafayette IS handling the related trade items and that the elevator companies will not be included these items in their scope of work?

Answer: Letter C of the Modernization form relates to the “Work by Others” All of which will be discussed during the Mandatory Job Walk held on June 16th @ 8:30AM MST on site at the library. This work will include some minor electrical, patching of tile at the button and screen locations, some LED lighting attached to the building, a new diffuser in the cab, and a move of the ladder in the pit. Any work performed by the modernization vendor which causes holes, damage, etc. will be responsible for repairing those issues.
