About this file
This document is a project proposal from the CVG Airport Authority for the CVG Centre Roof Replacement. The project involves replacing 4 roof sections of the CVG Centre that were originally installed in 1999 and have exceeded their anticipated life expectancy. The project is scheduled to take place from March 2025 to June 2025, weather dependent, with the primary objective of replacing roof sections before age and condition-related failures occur. The approach involves obtaining quotes to remove existing roofing material, perform necessary deck repairs, and install new roofing according to specified scope requirements.
The total projected cost for the project is $2,033,484, which includes $194,748 for design, $1,593,396 for construction/installation, $159,340 for contingency (minimum 10%), $85,000 for force labor, and $1,000 for miscellaneous expenses. The project will be funded through CapEx, and the recommendation is to solicit bids to replace the 4 roof sections identified as past their useful life. The project has been reviewed and approved by key stakeholders including Candace McGraw, Dilwyn Gruffydd, Bill Siemer, Tim Haizlip, and Tim Dodson, with alternative strategies considered such as continued bi-annual monitoring and repair, which could potentially require fast-tracking replacements of large roof sections as age-related failures occur.

CVG Centre Roof Replacement
Current Situation/Background Information
The roof sections on the CVG Centre, excluding one section, were installed in 1999 and have exceeded their anticipated life expectancy. Through routine maintenance and inspections, the majority of sections are identified as being in poor condition and recommended for replacement.
Project Definition
Project Information: Replacement of 4 identified sections of the CVG Roof that are at or past their useful life.
The business objectives: Replace the roof of the CVG Centre before the development of age and condition related failures.
Project Approach
Obtain quotes to remove the existing roofing material, perform any needed deck repairs, and install new roofing per scope specifications.
Alternatives
As an alternative we could continue to monitor, and assess the roof on a bi-annual basis and perform repairs as needed. This may require fast tracking replacements of large sections of the roof as age related failures occur.
Recommendation
Solicit bids to replace 4 of the roof sections identified as past their useful life to avoid age related failures.
