About this file

The document is an insurance requirements template for a contract between a contractor and Pasadena Water and Power (PWP), a department of the City of Pasadena, California, specifically related to a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project. The template details comprehensive insurance coverage requirements for the contractor, including specific mandatory insurance types such as Workers' Compensation, Commercial General Liability, Commercial Automobile Liability, Umbrella/Excess Liability, Professional Liability, and Contractor Pollution Liability Insurance. The insurance requirements specify minimum coverage limits, ranging from $1,000,000 to $20,000,000 depending on the insurance type, and include provisions for additional insured status, waiver of subrogation, and primary/non-contributory coverage.

The insurance requirements are designed to protect PWP and associated entities during the BESS project, which involves a 25 MW lithium-ion battery storage system with a minimum four-hour storage capability at the Glenarm Power Plant. The template mandates that insurance companies must have an AM Best's Rating of A- VII or better, and contractors must provide evidence of insurance prior to commencing work. The requirements also include specific endorsements and coverage conditions, such as maintaining insurance through the expiration of applicable statutes of limitation, covering potential pollution events, and providing notice of any material changes in coverage. The overall goal is to ensure comprehensive risk management and protection for the City of Pasadena throughout the project's development and operational phases.
