About this file

This is a Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for Nemco Propylene Glycol Inhibited and Dyed, Pure, prepared in compliance with GHS (Globally Harmonized System) standards and Canada WHMIS 2015 regulations.

The product is a non-toxic industrial antifreeze and coolant heat transfer fluid manufactured by Nemco Resources Ltd, located in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The active ingredient is propane-1,2-diol (1,2-propylene glycol) at >99% w/w concentration, with product codes 0684/0687. The substance is classified as causing eye irritation (Category 2B) under GHS hazard identification. First-aid measures include immediate flushing of eyes with water for at least 20 minutes and seeking medical attention if irritation persists. In case of inhalation, victims should be moved to fresh air; skin contact should be flushed with water; and ingestion requires removal of dentures and seeking medical attention if symptoms develop. The product is stable under normal storage and use conditions with no specific fire or explosion hazards identified. Suitable extinguishing agents include those appropriate for surrounding fires, with potential decomposition products including carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide. For spills, non-combustible absorbent materials should be used, and contaminated material disposed via licensed waste disposal contractors. Storage requirements include original containers in dry, cool, well-ventilated areas away from incompatible materials. Occupational exposure limits are specified for propane-1,2-diol at 10 mg/m³ TWA (aerosol only), 155 mg/m³ TWA (vapor and aerosol), and 50 ppm TWA (vapor and aerosol) per CA Ontario Provincial standards. Appropriate engineering controls include general ventilation, and personal protective equipment recommendations include chemical-resistant gloves, eye protection, and respiratory protection as needed. Physical properties indicate a pink liquid with mild odor, pH 9.5-10.5, freezing point below -50°C, and flash point of 98°C closed cup. Ecological toxicity data shows low bioaccumulative potential. The product is not regulated for transport under TDG, IMDG, or IATA classifications. Emergency contact information includes CANUTEC at +1-613-996-6666 and the manufacturer's business hours at 204.788.1030 or toll-free 1-855-755-6737.
