About this file

This is an insurance requirements exhibit from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation that establishes mandatory insurance coverage standards for awarded contractors performing work under state transportation contracts. The document specifies that contractors must purchase and maintain insurance coverage throughout the entire contract term and any renewals or extensions, with coverage required to be in effect before commencing work or entering Department of Transportation property.

The insurance requirements include workers' compensation insurance sufficient to cover all contractor employees as mandated by Pennsylvania law, and comprehensive general liability, property damage, and automobile liability insurance with minimum coverage amounts of $250,000 per person and $1,000,000 per occurrence for both bodily injury (including death) and property damage. The policies must be occurrence-based, name the Commonwealth or Department as an additional insured party, and include provisions requiring 30 days' prior written notice for cancellations or changes (15 days for non-payment of premium). Contractors must provide current insurance certificates showing required coverages and notice provisions, with accompanying policy documents if the certificate cannot display all required information, and must notify the Department of any insurance cancellations while prohibiting work during periods without maintained insurance coverage.
