@ Total Chlorine and pH tests must be completed within 15 minutes after the sample is taken. Dissolved Oxygen and Temperature are to be taken at the outfall.
Contact the Division of Environmental Protection (DEP) 301-496-7775 if any samples are determined to be in “noncompliance”
1) Total Chlorine
a. Record the results from the sample under the sample measurement row of the Total residual chlorine row in then maximum quantity column.
b. If the level is
i. LESS THAN 0.10 mg/l, report the result as “<0.10 micrograms/milliliter”
ii. GREATER THAN 0.10 mg/l but LESS THAN 0.20 mg/l, record the ACTUAL result.
iii. 0.20 mg/l or above, it is in noncompliance. Record the ACTUAL result
2) Dissolved Oxygen
a. Check and calibrate DO meter in accordance with manufacturers instructions
b. Measure sample and record the result in the sample row of the Dissolved oxygen row under the quantity minimum.
c. The lower limit for this test is 5.0 mg/l. If it is below this, report it as non-compliance
3) pH
a. Calibrate and document calibration
b. Record sample results on the data sheet in the pH row, under quality average.
c. If the pH is less then 6.5 or greater the 8.5, report it as non-compliance, Record the
ACTUAL result.
4) Temperature Differential
a. Insert probe into the designated point A (Outfall 001), and record the temperature as
Temperature A.
b. Move downstream to point B (As designated on the attached diagram), record the temperature at point B as temperature B.
c. Compare Temperature A to Temperature B and write the corresponding entry in the maximum quantity column.
i. Temperature A > Temperature B enter the result as “Noncompliance”
ii. Temperature A = Temperature B enter the results as “0”
iii. Temperature A < Temperature B enter the result as “<0”

This is Point A. It is located at the base of Outfall 001
This is Point B. It is located in front of the rocks at the end of the first pool. (Only use when Temp of point A > 90)
