Questions round 1, Week Ending 14 September 2019 Solicitation: N68335-19-R-0202
Questions and answers:
Question 1: Based on paragraph 2.9 of the specification, it appears that the cooling approach is liquid-to-liquid (vs. a liquid-to-air system) , but it’s not 100% clear. Please clarify, or indicate whether or not it’s up to the supplier to choose an approach.
Government Response: [it is up to the supplier to choose the heat transfer medium; however, please keep in mind this is installed in a closed-space shipboard environment]
Question 2: If a liquid-to-liquid system is in fact being specified, please indicate the temperature and flow rate of the ship-supplied water.
Government Response: [Please use DOD-STD-1399-532 as a guideline for ships chilled water]
Question 3: Dimensional limitations are not described in the specification. Please specify them.
Government Response: [Ideally, the equipment would be within 530,728 cubic inches and under 712 lbs]
Question 4: Please clarify the term “hatchable” in paragraph 2.11.
Government Response: [means the system can be transported in components that fit within the size specifications of US Navy aircraft carrier and amphibious assault ship hatches, i.e. no holes need to be cut in the ship to install or remove this equipment. Hatch dimension limitations are 3ft wide and 6ft tall]
