About this file

This document contains Government's Minimum Specifications for a federal contract procurement by NUWCDIVNPT (Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Newport). The procurement comprises three contract line items (CLINs) for the acquisition of one deep ocean, rechargeable lithium-ion battery system and supporting services for US Navy certification.

CLIN 0001 requires the contractor to provide services supporting Navy certification by completing and submitting battery information to the Government as needed, utilizing a Safety Data Package template provided as reference material. CLIN 0002 specifies the Li Ion battery requirements: 45Vdc voltage, minimum 22 kWh capacity, dimensions of 300 mm x 300 mm x 1500 mm (approximately 11.8 x 11.8 x 59 inches), maximum weight of 175 kg (385 lbs), minimum depth rating of 6,000 meters, and operating temperature range of -5°C to 35°C. CLIN 0003 requires a recharging system capable of operating with either 60 Hz single-phase 115 Vac power or 60 Hz three-phase 450 Vac Delta-configured power, designed for shipboard use on an ocean-going research vessel. The battery unit will achieve US Navy Li Ion certification following delivery and is intended for operation in marine environments.
