About this file
The document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file related to a Sources Sought Notice for a Fiber Optic Measurement System. The Naval Warfare Center Corona Division is conducting market research to identify potential sources for Test and Measurement Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE). Interested vendors are required to submit a Capability Statement by 03/13/2025, via email to Taylor O'Neal, with specific details including company information, business size, estimated unit pricing, lead time, and commentary on the Statement of Work.
Vendors should note this is an informational notice only, not a formal solicitation, and responses are voluntary. The document emphasizes that no funds are available for response preparation, and the government is not obligated to award a contract. The solicitation number is N6426725R1008, and responses should include a CAGE code, DUNS number, and a rough order of magnitude estimate. The procurement is being conducted by the Department of the Navy Naval Sea Systems Command, with the goal of gathering market intelligence about potential suppliers for the proposed fiber optic measurement system.

N6426725R1008 Fiber Optic Measurement System Sources Sought Questions from Industry
3/11/2025 Question 1: We need to know fiber count for all of the patch cords in order to quote and connector type on the highlighted lines. Thanks
Patch Cables:
? ST-ST, 1 meter, 9/125 µm (SM), (Quantity 4) ? A/FC-ST, 1 meter, 9/125 µm (SM), (Quantity 4) ? A/FC-A/FC, 1 meter, 9/125 µm (SM), (Quantity 4) ? ST-ST, 1 meter, 62.5/125 µm graded index (GI) (MM), (Quantity 4) ? ST-ST, 1 meter, 5.2/125 µm (SM), (Quantity 4) ? 62.5/125 µm, various lengths, (Quantity 4) ? 50/125 µm, various lengths, (Quantity 4) ? 9/125 µm, various lengths, (Quantity 4) ? 100/140 µm, various lengths, (Quantity 4)
Answer: For the highlighted patch cables below, the fiber count is one (1) and connector type is ST-ST.
3/11/2025 Question 2: What is meant by the order of magnitude?
Answer: Rough order of magnitude estimates (ROMs), are estimates of the effort and cost involved in completing a project.
Question 3: There are certain requirements that do not exist or have been obsolete some time ago. We would like to understand if the specifications and requirements are able to be adjusted before the final RFQ is sent out?
Answer: Please see the attachments SOW_ Fiber Optic System, 2.0 Background, paragraph two (2) “Components that the new system will replace..”
3/11/2025 Question 4: The detail we are looking for are: Does 1 fiber mean single mode? What are they various lengths? What quantity per length?
Answer: All cables will be only 1 meter, as for single-mode or multi-mode here is the list per cable:
· ST-ST 62.5/125 µm, 1 meter, (Quantity 4) multi-mode
· ST-ST 50/125 µm, 1 meter, (Quantity 4) multi-mode
· ST-ST 9/125 µm, 1 meter, (Quantity 4) single-mode
· ST-ST 100/140 µm, 1 meter, (Quantity 4) multi-mode Question 5: The Statement of Work mentions 32 systems procured over 5 years and the Technical Spec mentions qty of 2. Is the ‘estimated unit price’ the price / system purchased in qty of 2 systems?
Answer: The quantity in the CSS is incorrect, the “quantity 2” was left in error, estimated unit price should be for 1 single system.
