About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for a Naval Warfare Center Corona Division Sources Sought Notice for a Fiber Optic Measurement System. The Q&A addresses industry inquiries about specific patch cable specifications, including fiber count and connector types for various cable configurations (ST-ST, A/FC-ST, A/FC-A/FC) with different fiber sizes ranging from 9/125m to 100/140m. The questions also seek clarification on rough order of magnitude (ROM) estimates and the potential for adjusting obsolete specifications.
The associated Sources Sought Notice (N6426725R1008) requests capability statements from potential vendors for Test and Measurement Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE). Interested parties must submit responses by 03/13/2025 to Taylor O'Neal via email, including company details, business size, estimated unit pricing, lead times, and industry commentary on the Statement of Work. The notice emphasizes that this is for market research purposes, is not a formal solicitation, and does not guarantee a contract award. Responses are voluntary, and no funds are available for response preparation.

N6426725R1008 Fiber Optic Measurement System Sources Sought Questions from Industry
3/11/2025 Question 1: We need to know fiber count for all of the patch cords in order to quote and connector type on the highlighted lines. Thanks
Patch Cables:
? ST-ST, 1 meter, 9/125 µm (SM), (Quantity 4) ? A/FC-ST, 1 meter, 9/125 µm (SM), (Quantity 4) ? A/FC-A/FC, 1 meter, 9/125 µm (SM), (Quantity 4) ? ST-ST, 1 meter, 62.5/125 µm graded index (GI) (MM), (Quantity 4) ? ST-ST, 1 meter, 5.2/125 µm (SM), (Quantity 4) ? 62.5/125 µm, various lengths, (Quantity 4) ? 50/125 µm, various lengths, (Quantity 4) ? 9/125 µm, various lengths, (Quantity 4) ? 100/140 µm, various lengths, (Quantity 4)
Answer: For the highlighted patch cables below, the fiber count is one (1) and connector type is ST-ST.
3/11/2025 Question 2: What is meant by the order of magnitude?
Answer: Rough order of magnitude estimates (ROMs), are estimates of the effort and cost involved in completing a project.
Question 3: There are certain requirements that do not exist or have been obsolete some time ago. We would like to understand if the specifications and requirements are able to be adjusted before the final RFQ is sent out?
Answer: Please see the attachments SOW_ Fiber Optic System, 2.0 Background, paragraph two (2) “Components that the new system will replace..”
