About this file
This is an Attachment J-5 containing a Request for Specification Clarification document with questions and answers regarding various work items for a ship maintenance and modernization contract.
The document addresses clarifications across multiple specification items for ship renovation work. Work Item 0102 concerns replacement of exterior stairwells with positive traction steps, with contractor-furnished treads bolted over existing treads per MSC Drawing No. 623-8615251. Work Items 0173P and 0173W distinguish between service tunnel preservation (full surface prep and profile of Zone 1: Frames 89-97) and annual tunnel cleaning and inspection. Work Items 0598 and 0694 cover refrigeration system piping lagging replacement in the Aft House, with piping sizes ranging from 1/2 inch to 2-1/8 inch, with exact lengths to be determined during initial walk-through. Work Item 0601 addresses tile repairs in a toilet/shower area (approximately 12 square feet) with tile provided as Government-Furnished Material (GFM). Work Item 0699 clarifies that only upper bunk installation in the Aft Hospital is required, with the bunk and ladder procured as GFM and the contractor providing support structure materials only. Work Item 0104 specifies full preservation with complete surface profile for Flight Deck underside Zone 3 only during the current availability. Work Item 0131C requires development of a cable penetration inspection list for MCTs and penetrations, based on physical inspection of all spaces and levels, in compliance with ABS 5-year inspection requirements. General Services for Ship (Item 0011) requires shore power provision for up to 15 cables at 400 amps for a total of 6,000 amps. CLINs 0006-0014 reference requests for work specifications should be directed to the Contracting office.
