NAVAL HOSPITAL OAK HARBOR SITE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

Background

With new P-8 Poseidon squadrons expected to arrive at Whidbey Island Naval Air Station, the base hospital is expanding and improving services. Primary changes include closure of the hospital’s Urgent Care Center, expansion of the Medical Home Port Primary Care Center, upgrades to the birthing center and the addition of a 24-hour nurse hotline.

The Medical Home Port Team is the ambulatory care clinic of Naval Hospital Oak Harbor. NHOH provides patient centered care to active duty, retirees, and eligible family members who are TRICARE Prime enrollees from newborn to geriatric. These services range from routine visits, health maintenance, Obstetric outpatient services, minor surgical procedures, pediatric counseling, patient education, and services for selected specialty care areas. Urgent and emergent pediatric consultations are available upon direct provider referral. In addition, referrals are also provided for specialty care services not available in the facility

The hospital serves more than 20,000 service members, retirees and their families living in and around NAS Whidbey, according to the Navy.

Address:

Naval Hospital Oak Harbor (NHOH) 3475 N Saratoga St Oak Harbor, WA 98277

Building Logistics

The Contractor should be advised that conditions described in this document may be subject to change. All information should be verified with Material Management staff prior to the start of installation.

Renovation: The Contractor should be advised that NHOH is in the middle of a renovation. Conditions described in this document may be subject to change. All information should be verified with Material Management staff prior to the start of installation.

Rack Erection Space: MMD (Rm 369) should be able to provide some limited space in central supply to erect the racking. There is a potential to stage a semi-truck where the “old” MRI pad was located to enable bringing in a limited number of racks into central supply. The vendor is to check with MMD for the availability of the staging space for the semi and central supply near to the time the rack is to be installed. If space cannot be made available, the vendor will be required to stage and/or assemble the rack off-site.

Loading Docks: NHOH has two loading docks. One is dedicated to gases and linen and the other for any other deliveries. NHOH Materials Management staff will receive vendor equipment upon arrival. Every effort should be made to minimize interference with peak patient flow. This same loading dock will be available for storage of trash dumpsters, if necessary.

Elevators: This is a single story building – there are no elevators.

Travel Paths and Egress: Travel from Materials Management to the supply rooms dictate travel through main corridors. The vendor should avoid creating congestion in the corridors and provide patients priority access to the corridors.

Hours of Operation:

Clinic Hours Monday – Friday; 0700 - 1800 Sat-Sun – CLOSED Holidays; CLOSED Inpatient Open 24/7
