About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers file for a tank replacement project, providing detailed clarifications about 150-gallon tanks. Key details include: the tanks will have residual fuel during pickup, are designed to have a generator/pump installed on top, do not require flame guard rating, and will be replaced sequentially as part of a destructive weather plan. Regarding tank specifications, no electrical interstitial monitoring is required, but there must be an inspector access opening to check for water or fuel, and emergency vents are needed on the interstice. The government confirmed the tanks are 150 gallons and will be transported with pumps being taken off-site one at a time and then returned.

Questions/Answer
Question 1: Will the existing tanks contain any fuel at the time of pick up? If so, what quantity? This will determine if the pumps can be transported with or without a hazmat endorsement.
Government Answer 1: Only fuel that will be in the tanks will be residual fuel from having the tanks emptied.
Question 2 - Please confirm that these are 150 gallons as at these dimensions the existing tank should be less than 6 inches tall for 150 gallons.
Government Answer 2 - All information we have states that the tank are 150 gallons.
Question 3 - Is the tank to be designed to install a generator on top of the tank?
Government Answer 3 - Yes, the tank is designed to have a generator/pump installed on top.
Question 4 - Are the tanks required to be flame guard rated?
Government Answer 4 - No, they do not need to be flame guard rated.
Question 5 - There is a statement that all rentals are in place before commencement. Are we to assume that a temporary unit is required to be in place at all times while the tank replacement is being completed?
Government Answer 5 - No rentals are required. The pumps will be scheduled to be taken off site one at a time. Then returned, before the next one will be taken off site. As they are a part of our destructive weather plans.
Question 6 - Is there to be interstitial monitoring on these tanks? If so, are they to be battery or shore powered? Is shore power available at each tank?
Government Answer 6 - No there does not need to be electrical monitoring of the interstice.
There just needs to be an opening for the inspector to open and check for water or fuel. There are normally extra access points for this. There does need to be emergency vents on the interstice.
