Contractor shall make an initial determination of potential employee exposure to toxic or hazardous substances prior to removal of existing non-skid or coatings. Laboratory analysis results of bulk non-skid/paint samples shall be submitted to the COR as soon as possible upon receipt from the laboratory. If the laboratory analysis results reflect that additional effort will be required in removing the heavy metals (e.g. lead, cadmium or chromium), hexavalent chromium, crystalline silica and/or other toxic or hazardous substances beyond the effort of removing marine coatings, then the contractor shall submit a request for equitable adjustment for the cost of the additional effort.
