STATEMENT OF WORK
7.1 Mechanical/Fluid
7.1.1 Using bypasses, provide temporary seawater supply to and discharge from A/C and refrigeration units for the duration of the sea valve repairs.
7.1.2 To facilitate valve repair and detachment, remove rod connections to all valves so equipped.
7.1.3 To permit external examination, clean all pads, nipples, studs, spool pieces, flanges, and other such hull connections that secure the various valves and their appurtenances to the hull.
7.1.4 Unbolt and convey from ship to shop all the valves listed in preceding table.
7.1.5 Disassemble and thoroughly clean valves. Determine repairs required to place valves in serviceable condition. Submit in triplicate to the MSC Representative a typewritten report listing any defective, deteriorated, or missing components.
7.1.6 Renew or repair all valve internals, stems, guides, seats, discs, and gates, using material similar to original when new. Replace with new: all valves smaller than 2-1/2 inches. Task requires five (5) valves.
7.1.7 Grind and spot-in all globe and gate valve discs to their valve seats to provide 100 percent contact.
7.1.8 Free and dismantle all stems from valve bonnets; polish stems and repack packing glands.
7.1.9 Replace with new: all O-rings on all butterfly valves.
7.1.10 Thoroughly clean internal surfaces and apply to bare areas one (1) coat Apexior No. 3 or equal.

Task requires an estimated fifty (50) replacements. Repack stuffing glands and ready valves for shop test.
7.1.12 Conduct shop hydro test of all removed valves to prove water tightness in the presence of the MSC and Regulatory Body Representatives.
7.1.13 Reinstall all removed valves, examine all hull fasteners, and renew missing or defective stud bolts and nuts with "CRES" material. Task requires estimated fifty (50) replacements.
7.1.14 Inspect all reachrod assemblies. Free up universals. Lubricate and renew defective bolting and pins. Repack stuffing boxes at deck connections. Reconnect all reach rod assemblies to respective valves.
7.1.15 Open and close all valves to ensure proper open and close capabilities. Test valves with reach rods from operating stations. Ensure the Chief Engineer and MSC Representative witness all operational checks.
