About this file
This is Amendment 0002 to Solicitation N40085-26-R-9057 for the Building G560 Mechanical Replacement project at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, administered by NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic. The amendment, effective July 22, 2026, provides responses to seven Request for Information (RFI) questions submitted by potential contractors regarding project specifications and execution details. Key clarifications include: work is located on Camp Geiger and requires base access (not a restricted area); contractor personnel must wear DBIDS cards and/or base access passes; lead abatement subcontractors must dispose of plumbing materials unless lead-free status can be verified; only one exhaust fan (EF-1) requires replacement with one 10"x10" suction grille per bathroom; the existing outside air louver should be assumed for reuse pending contractor verification with government contact Nick Vella at (910) 451-0248; exhaust fan access is available through ceiling openings in the hallway or bathroom with subsequent repair of penetrations; and refrigerant lines must be reclaimed before cutting and capping existing lines, with new lines routed to the exterior and down to the condensing unit. The amendment confirms that all other terms and conditions of the solicitation remain unchanged.

CONTINUATION SHEET
1. QUESTION: General Note 5 on drawing G001 states “The area of work is located within restricted areas. Access to this area shall be coordinated with the contracting officer.” What restrictions will be required for work in the project area?
ANSWER: This note refers to the work taking place on Camp Geiger. Not a restricted area but requires access to base at the new river/air station.
2. QUESTION: General Note 18 on drawing G001 states “Contractor’s personnel must wear identification at all times.” What will be required?
ANSWER: DBIDS card and/or base access pass.
3. QUESTION: Notice of Potential Lead-Base Paint and Plumbing Materials states “…The contractor shall presume that plumbing pipes, solder and other components also contain lead.”
During the site visit, we noticed the condensate drain piping was copper. Will the disposal of the condensate drain piping be by a Lead Abatement Subcontractor?
ANSWER: Unless it is possible to verify that the piping is free of lead. The disposal shall be done by a lead abatement subcontractor.
4. QUESTION: Mechanical Demo Note 10 on drawing M101 shows the demo of 1 each exhaust fan. Mechanical General Note 10 states to “Provide new exhaust fan(s) with suction grills, one in each bathroom.” New Panelboard: PLP Schedule on M601 only shows 1 each exhaust fan EF-1.
How many exhaust fan EF-1 will be required to be replaced? How many and what type and size of suction grille is required?
ANSWER: There should only be one fan (EF-1) located above the bathroom at the roof penetration. The suction grills are one in each bathroom that shall be replaced with like and kind to existing (which should be 10”x10”).
5. QUESTION: Mechanical General Note 8 on drawing M102 states “Existing Outside Air Louver may remain if it functions and fits with new equipment, but shall be replaced if necessary. Same applies to the ductwork feeding to and from AHU-1 and AHU-2.” This is a very open ended statement. Who makes the determination if the louver and ductwork is functional? If louver is deemed not functional, what are the specs for the type of louver that will be required?
ANSWER: Bid assuming it will not be replaced. The intent is to reuse the existing OA Louver.
From limited available access at the time of initial inspection, the OA louver appeared to be intact for reuse. After performing the demo for this project there will be a point where the OA
N40085-26-R-9057 Amendment 0002 lover will be more accessible. At that time, the contractor shall verify with the government that the OA louver is fit for reuse or not. Contact Nick Vella for OA louver reuse condition verification: (910) 451-0248. Spec for OA louver will be provided if required.
6. QUESTION: The exhaust fan is in a hard ceiling. We did not see any access panels. Where is the access to get above the bathroom ceiling to demolish the exhaust fan and install new exhaust fan? Is the access panel large enough to get the new fan above the ceiling?
ANSWER: Either through the ceiling just outside the bathrooms in the hallway or opening the ceiling in the bathroom. After getting into the ceiling, replace with like and kind to repair any access holes or penetrations made.
7. QUESTION: During the site visit, it appears the refrigerant and condensate piping is run between the interior sheetrock and exterior metal panels. There is no mention of this interior sheetrock wall. Is the sheetrock wall being demoed to remove the existing and run the new piping in the same routing? Or are we to cut and cap the existing refrigerant and condensate drain piping and abandon in place, and then run the refrigerant and condensate drain piping out of the building and down the exterior?
ANSWER: Verify all refrigerant is reclaimed prior to cut and cap of existing lines for abandon in place. Run new RF lines and condensate out to exterior and down to grade/condensing unit
8. All other terms and conditions remain unchanged.
