Replace damaged ceramic tile from pool deck or tiles damaged during construction.
(We also have column bases to repair; one has significant loss which will remove flooring). Arch scope note in Part 3 states to replace damaged ceramic tile from pool deck, but we do not have enough fieldwork to fully understand the damage quantity.
Please provide square footage of tile to be replaced for this line item, or allow and confirm 2000 sf (approx. 10%) to be used for bidding, of tile repairs in natatorium, to include the floor repairs where columns will require repairs. For bidding purposes since we do not understand which columns require this work until a full analysis can take place, we believe 8 columns to be exposed below slab at base plate and remove rust and coat base plate (for bidding purposes). Then built back with concrete grout over repaired coated base plate, and floor finish repairs.
Regarding the existing column bases to be repaired, please base the bid on cleaning and coating all existing column bases within the natatorium. Please base the extent of the area of existing tile removal and replacement at existing column bases on how much clearance the contractor will need to perform the work. For bidding purposes, except at existing column D-12, please assume that existing tile removal will be sufficient, and additional existing concrete removal for existing steel column base painting applications will not be necessary. The base of existing column D- 12 requires more extensive structural repairs. Depending on the design solution by the contractor's DOR, existing concrete floor may be removed here. ~Response by J. Picano
