About this file

This is Amendment 1 to a federal contract solicitation for water tank painting and related services. The amendment modifies work requirements and responsibilities for a tank (identified as Tank 558) rehabilitation project.

Key modifications include: (1) pit welding and filling specifications for interior surfaces, requiring welding of pitting at least 1/4 of steel thickness and filling of rough-edged pitting with solventless epoxy seam sealer; (2) shifting cathodic protection system responsibility from the government to the contractor, requiring testing before water drainage and system removal per NACE publication SP0193-2016, with contractor obligation to repair any non-functioning systems before tank return to service; (3) contractor responsibility for removing any residual water remaining in low spots on the floor after government performs initial tank drainage; (4) contractor requirement to replace the roof vent with a clog-resistant vent meeting AWWA D100-11 Section 7.5 specifications; and (5) contractor requirement to replace an undersized existing overflow pipe stub with a new pipe compliant with AWWA D100-11 Section 7.3 specifications. These modifications apply to both Drawing CS-001 and Specification Section 01 11 00, effectively expanding contractor scope and responsibility while reducing government involvement in system maintenance and residual water removal tasks.
