RESPONSE: A/E
approves the use of edging to use “T‐Mold” anchor type molding.
This type of edge band is not considered robust construction for long term wear and tear and will not allow warranty of the casework.
Contemporary casework construction uses 3mm PVC edge banding, color matched to the laminate surface for the best performance and warranty. Please consider 3mm PVC edge banding as the preferred construction for these countertops.
3mm PVC edge banding, color matched to the laminate surface.

2.15.1.1.2 2.5.1h
These specifications indicate “Face Frame Construction” which is typically used in lower quality kitchen grade casework. Contemporary commercial and healthcare grade casework construction uses “Frameless” construction per AWI/AWS guidelines.
Please confirm that “Frameless” construction of the casework is the preferred construction to price.
RESPONSE: AWI offers the following definition for Frameless and Face‐ frame. Typically, this is an aesthetic decision.
Construction Type A:
Frameless construction, where the front edge of the cabinet body components are simply edgebanded.
Construction Type B:
Face‐frame construction, where the front edge of the cabinet body components is overlaid with a frame.
A/E requests that the bidder submit a link to this information.
025 12 35 70 2.5.2a & b The referenced spec section indicates ALL cabinet bodies, doors, drawers – where indicated on drawings – be constructed with either a. Galvanized substrate steel for “extra corrosion resistance” or
b. Stainless Steel

substrates. We are not able to locate / identify any of this casework on the drawings.
Furthermore – all galvanized steel casework construction is not commercially available – custom fabrication to this requirement will be cost prohibitive if even available. Please indicate where such metal cabinets occur on the project. Please confirm intent is for contractor to select EITHER a.
Galvanized or b.
Stainless Steel construction.
There are other rooms indicated that should receive stainless steel countertops and should not be overlooked.
Potential manufacturers of stainless steel cabinets could include, but may not be limited to:
Hamilton Laboratory Solutions Fisher Scientific
026 2.2.1.7 10 14 00.10
The description noting the finish of the metal plaques states they needs to be satin polished.
We believe this is two types of finishes; can you provide some clarification on which finish should be used, satin or polished?
RESPONSE: Use a satin finish.
027 08 41 13 AE‐204 The East elevation of the building has a 33’ ATFP standoff from the road.
Storefront/glazing manufacturers are not able to meet the specified requirement with the 33’ ATFP Standoff. Are DOD blast frames/glass the only option for this application? Please provide specifics on type(s) of glazing and
RESPONSE: For the 2nd floor windows on the East façade the setback would be 33ft plus 30’‐0 ½”, or approximately 63ft.
At the 63ft setback, the peak dynamic pressure for charge weight I is 21.7 psi and the positive phase impulse is 104 psi‐ms.
The windows and frames can be frame needed for this side of the building.
designed for these dynamic forces, or for the static forces indicated in UFC 4‐ 010‐01 with charge weight I at 63 ft.
028 AE201‐204 Please confirm that Limestone Ground Face is the preferred Decorative CMU block for this project. The Camp Lejeune BEAP calls for white split face block which is traditionally a different style.
RESPONSE: Change the Limestone Ground Face CMU to the white split face CMU to match BEAP.
029 AE622 Per drawing page AE622 keynote 4, it states to refer to equipment schedule number S1900A for the additional information for the vertical pass through window.
However, it is not included in the equipment schedule and we are unable to determine all of the requirements.
RESPONSE: Window information provided in previous.
030 11 74 00 Item D0904, D9015, and D8650 in spec section 11 74 00 does not appear on the QH equipment schedule in category A, C, R. Please clarify if these are CFCI, GFGI or other.
RESPONSE: D0904 is Category A and is in the specs but was inadvertently left of of the plans. It goes in room 2105. Quantity of 1.
D9015 is category C and was inadvertently left in the specs. This will be supplied and installed by the owner D8650 is not in the project and was inadvertently left in the specs.
031 11 72 13 Please provide spec section 11 72 13 as it is missing and mentioned as the spec section for two ice makers (R4650, R4700) in the equipment schedule
RESPONSE: Refer to spec section 10 90
00.0050 for both R4650 and R4700.
032 IN111‐1
through
IN111‐3
Reference sheet AF611, Miscellaneous Finish Identification Schedule indicates two types of bumper guards (BG‐1 and BG‐2), ID Finish Remarks state to refer to sheets IN111‐1 through IN112‐3 for locations.
The IN111‐1 through IN112‐3 do not specific what type of bumper guard goes where.
Please specify where BG‐ 1 is to be installed and where BG‐2 is to be installed. IN Sheets only show “BG” with no numerical designation.
RESPONSE: BG‐2 is intended to be general use bumper guard as indicated on QH200. BG‐1 is intended to be used when wall protection line code BG/BG is indicated on the IN111‐series plans.
BG‐1 would be installed above BG‐2.
BG‐1 mounting height is wrong on QH200.
The top of BG‐1 should align with the top of the handrail.
033 CD101‐104 Please confirm if base logging plans to clear the large pine trees from the project site.
RESPONSE: Base will harvest all saleable timber only.
034 CD001 From the site walk it appears like there is a good amount of erosion taking place along Birch Street and near the walkway bridge. Please confirm that repairs to this area are not part of this projects scope as the limits of the project border on this area.
RESPONSE: Bids should based on the information contained in the construction documents. Any changed conditions should be addressed at the final construction award.
035 23 81 00 2.2.1
Variable Refrigerant Flow Systems spec section 23 81 00 para
2.2.1 states, “Operation of the system shall permit either cooling or heating of all of the indoor units simultaneously” which indicates a heat recovery type system.
The specs and/or plans do not show a heat recovery/branch controller which indicates a “heat
PENDING
pump” type system. Is the VRF system a heat recovery type w/ simultaneous heating & cooling or a heat pump type where are of the indoor units operate in either cooling or heating mode?
