Amendment 0004 -035

23 81 00 2.2.1

Variable Refrigerant Flow Systems spec section 23 81 00 para

2.2.1 states, “Operation of the system shall permit either cooling or heating of all of the indoor units simultaneously” which indicates a heat recovery type system. The specs and/or plans do not show a heat recovery/branch controller which indicates a “heat pump” type system. Is the VRF system a heat recovery type w/ simultaneous heating & cooling or a heat pump type where are of the indoor units operate in either cooling or heating mode?

RESPONSE: Control sequence on sheet MI712 for Ductless Split System paragraph B.1 indicates system is a heat pump design and also in specification along with system operation shall permit either cooling or heating of all of the indoor units simultaneously per sequence and spec section 2.2.1.

Specification section under SD-03, SD-08 and SD-10 also states air cooled heat pump condensing units.

Amendment 0005 - 43

C-001 C-001 Is the choice of the third party testing firm for infiltration testing at the discretion of the contractor or the government?

RESPONSE: The choice of the testing firm is at the discretion of the Contractor but must be approved by the Government

23 00 00 2.12.1 Fan Coil Units

MH602 Will 277V/1Ø motors be acceptable on fan coils?

One hot wire, and one neutral wire can be pulled from 460V/3Ø power to provide 277/1Ø at the fan coil.

RESPONSE: 277/1-

phase motors will not be acceptable. Provide motor voltage ratings as indicated on drawings.

CS-102,

CS-103 &

CS-104

Item #42 from the site improvement notes lists a grass maintenance access.

There is no detail associated with this access and is assumed to be sod only. Please clarify if this is a grass paver section.

RESPONSE: The grass maintenance access is sod as shown on the LP series drawings.

52 Notes S101, S101-1 through S101-3

Please clarify the lengths of the production and test piles. Foundation Plan Notes, #3 & #4 on S101- 1 through S101-3 states to base finish floor elevation on 0.0’ when actual elevation is 22’ but Driven Pile Notes #5 on S101 states to drive tip to -25.00 feet. Thus, are the piles required 23 & 28’ (plus waste) or 45 & 50’ (plus waste) respectively?.

RESPONSE: Driven Pile Note #3 references an actual tip elevation of -25.00 ft for production piles and -30.00 ft for test piles. It is not based on the referenced finish floor elevation indicated on S101-1

53 Geotech report

Please provide a copy of the geotechnical report to gauge pile criteria and other soil conditions not spelled out in the plans.

RESPONSE: The borings logs on the plans provide enough info for the bidders to prepare their bids. The Geotech report will be provided to the successful bidder.

54 07 21 13 Please clarify the thickness of the rigid insulation in the masonry cavities. Absent on the drawings and specs is the thickness. It scales at approximately 1.5”, we need to clarify this thickness.

RESPONSE: Board insulation in masonry cavity is 1-1/2” in thickness.

55 04 20 00 2.6.6 The plans and specs both show a rigid stainless-steel flashing for the through wall flashing where typically options of copper, stainless or a combo of copper/stainless exists. Please clarify if solid stainless is the only allowed flashing.

Typically, a copper thru wall flashing is used that contains a 3 oz.

bituminous coating on each side with a stainless-steel drip edge. Solid stainless steel is very expensive and is also very difficult for the Masons to install.

RESPONSE: Provide specified stainless steel through wall flashing.

56 05 12 00 2.7.2 Shop Primer

Please confirm the primer for all structural steel on the project is SSPC 20 or SSPC Paint 29 (zinc rich primer) as referenced. It is the only shop primer referenced under the structural steel specs.

RESPONSE: Provide fabricator’s standard primer for all steel except as follows:

Steel exposed to weather in the final construction (to be galvanized) or specifically identified as galvanized;

Steel scheduled to receive spray applied fire resistive materials.

The drawings indicate some of the interior ADA panel signage are acrylic signs (possible applique).

On the specifications the information indicates photopolymer. Please clarify which type of signage we are to bid for this project for the ADA panel signs.

RESPONSE: Sheet AG501 shows exterior sign elevations. Sign type XBC is a building mounted entry sign with raised letters and braille.

The condoc code for the raised letters and braille is 101400.P10 Painted Etched Zinc Panel Spec Section 10 14 00.10 page 5, 2.2.2 Chemically Etched Zinc Plaque (XBC) Sheet AG502 shows most of the interior signs with raised letters and braille and Sheet AG503 has a few sign types with raised letters and braille. The condoc reference on these signs is

101400.P11 Painted Photopolymer, Chemically Welded to Acrylic 1/8”. This ties to Spec Section 10 14

00.20 page 5, 2.3.4.3 as noted in the PPI. The drawings and specifications are calling for Photopolymer.

Sheet AG503 Shows signs B5 & B6 Area of Refuge and Two-way Communication signs that have raised letters and braille. These signs are in Spec Section 10 14 00.20 page 8, 2.10.

These are off-the-shelf ADA signs used to communicate the area of refuge call station. The raised letters and braille can be the standard of the off-the-shelf manufacturer.

Page 5, 2.3.4.1 Subsurface Copy

The specification referenced calls for subsurface graphics, but there is no indication of these graphics on the drawings. Please clarify if there are to be subsurface graphics for this scope of work. If so, please indicate which signs require subsurface copy / graphics.

RESPONSE: Condoc Codes 101400.B05 Silkscreen Text and Graphic and 101400.P15 Clear Acrylic, Reverse Backspray, Frisk 1/8” on sheet AG503 identify the signs that have subsurface graphics. Sign type A1b Department Identification shows these materials. Review the sign elevation Key Notes and Material (condoc notes) to verify if other signs include the same information.

Will the art work be supplied by the architect?

With the final layouts supplied by the sign company? Are we to bid a line item for Evacuation Maps?

RESPONSE: The art work will NOT be supplied by the architect

60 10 14 00.20 Page 5, 2.3.3 Type of Mounting for Signs & Page 10, 3.1.1 Anchorage

The specifications call for signs to be installed with VHB tape. However, further down they say for the signs to be removable for painting maintenance.

There were additional notes that signs are to be mechanically mounted.

Which way do they want the signs mounted?

RESPONSE:

Mechanically fasten with concealed hardware wall mounted signs.

Light weight, single panel, acrylic signs can be installed using VHB tape

61 There is no FFE budget associated with the pricing schedule. Does the government intend to furnish and install all furniture including site amenities listed as NIC?

RESPONSE: Yes

62 It is recommended to add a CLIN item (unit cost) for unsuitable soils that are not concrete demolition debris.

PENDING

AE-111-1

through

AE-112-3

Please provide location(s) of plastic laminate soffit as depicted in the Ceiling Legend on all reflected ceiling plan sheets. We cannot locate this product.

RESPONSE: Plastic laminate soffits were deleted from the project.

LP003 Please reference Drawing LP003 - Under the “Tree Mitigation Calculations” the quantity listed is 259 less project site total of 162 = but under “Tree Mitigation Requirements” on the same Drawing LP003 – lists contractor to plant 178 or 179 trees. Please clarify which quantity of mitigation is required for both the base bid and bid option and the type of tree that is required for the tree mitigation effort.

furthermore, please provide an approximate location for the OFF- SITE location for the planting of the mitigation trees.

Per LP003, the total number of 2 inch caliper (minimum) trees required for off-site mitigation is

259. Minus the 81 proposed trees being planted at installation (in both the base bid and option bid), equals 178 required mitigation trees to be planted at an off-site location (on base). Both the base bid and the option bid require the same number of off-site mitigation trees – 178.

The off-site mitigation tree planting location and species type is to be provided by the Contracting officer and NAVFAC Landscape

Architect postaward.
