LETTER OF CLARIFICATION-ASSUMPTIONS TO #14
NET ZERO FACILITY DESIGN
Lamp Replacement
1. The CE marking is the manufacturer's declaration that the product meets the requirements of the applicable EC directives. In case that there are modifications to existing lighting fixtures wiring the CE marking is not valid.
2. T5 lamps are considered new generation fluorescent lamps controlled by electronic gear and are more energy efficiency than the T8 lamps with electromagnetic gear. Major lamp manufacturers like Osram, Sylvania, and Phillips provide retrofit led tubes (lamps) only for T8 lamps and not for T5 lamps.
Our explanation is that replacing T5 lamps with led tubes is not cost effective due to small energy savings. Nevertheless generic T5 led tubes exists in the market.
3. Emergency lighting fixtures and exit signs were not included in the scope of work for replacement
4. Illumination levels. No calculations can be performed to simulate existing fixtures lighting output with led tubes. Therefore the result of lighting illumination in the existing spaces cannot be predefined.
