1. NOTES:
0. The contractor and all subcontractors, regardless of tier are advised to review other work items under this contract to determine their effect on the work required under this work item. Many of the definitions relating to performance of this work item are found in Work Item 001.
0. This ship contains High Voltage (HV) electrical systems. The contractor and subcontractors shall obey all posted and verbal instructions regarding safety and exclusion from High Voltage areas. At no time shall a contractor or subcontractor approach, work on, or enter a High Voltage area without proper authorization.
0. THE USNS LEWIS AND CLARK ELECTRICAL COLOR CODING DOES NOT FOLLOW CONSISTENT COLOR SCHEME. THE SHIP IS KNOWN TO HAVE CURRENT CARRYING CONDUCTORS COLORED GREEN, BLUE, BLACK AND WHITE. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ASSUME ALL ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE HOT UNTIL TESTED OTHERWISE. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL TEST ALL ELECTRICAL CABLES TO ENSURE THEY ARE DEAD PRIOR TO WORKING ON THE ITEM.
0. All Welding shall be in accordance with ABS rules for building and classing steel ships.
1. QUALITY ASSURANCE REQUIREMENTS: None Additional
1. STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIRED:
2. Develop an ABS Approved drawing plan for cut-out removal of the scuttle. Preparation procedure for new scuttle insert, weld procedure to install the new scuttle, and Non-destructive test required as specified in ABS Steel Vessel Rules. Reference 2.1 provides shell plate expansion details. The plan must detail hull cut radius required, scuttle insert preparation required, weld procedure required, and Non-destructive Testing (NDT) required. ABS is required to approve the drawing plan.
2. Cut-out and remove scuttles 07-65.5-1 & 07-66-1. Prep corners as per the ABS approved drawing plan.
2. Weld prep new scuttles as per the ABS approved drawing plan. ABS and MSCREP to inspect new scuttle insert after preparation is complete.
2. Weld-in new scuttles in accordance with ABS approved weld procedure. ABS and MSCREP to inspect root weld.
2. Perform non-destructive testing as per the ABS approved drawing plan. ABS and MSCREP to witness NDT testing.
2. Preparation of Drawings/Documents:
5. Develop an ABS approved working drawing of the proposed insert cuts and scuttle preparation including all welding. ABS is required to approve the drawing plan. Submit to MSCREP for approval prior to starting work.
5. Provide MSCREP with quality assurance documentation that includes the ABS Approved drawing plan developed, welder qualifications, and NDT test results.
2. Inspections and Testing:
6. ABS and MSCREP shall witness new scuttle Fit-up.
6. Perform a NDT test on the new scuttle in accordance with ABS instructions. MSCREP and ABS to witness testing.
2. Painting/lagging:
7. Install new lagging where lagging was removed.
7. Paint all new and disturbed surfaces to match surrounding surfaces interior and exterior. Paint will be provided by ship.
2. Markings: Reinstall markings and labels.
