3.0 General Notes
3.1 All data observed during the performance of this test must be regarded as significant. If sufficient space is not provided for the recording of required test data, it should be made on an attachment to the test procedure.
3.2 Completed test procedures shall be completely filled in, dated, signed and/or initialed at each entry as indicated. If certain data called for is not recorded, an entry shall be made in Section 6.0 explaining the missing information.
3.3 Any substitution of components or equipment during the course of the test must carry complete documentation, i.e. cleanliness, calibration information, etc. This information shall be recorded in the applicable sections of the test procedure.
3.4 Discrepancies and/or omissions encountered during the performance of this test shall be reported to the engineer responsible for the component/system. The discrepancy or omission shall be recorded in Section 6.0.
3.5 Deviations from this test procedure or changes in the installation from approved drawings shall not be made without prior approval from the engineer responsible for the system. Deviations must be recorded in Section 6.0 and ultimately must be approved by all reviewers of the test procedure.
3.6 Where tolerances are specified for the test data, every effort shall be made to meet such tolerances. Where not possible, the engineer responsible for the system shall be notified immediately. Any changes to the specified tolerances will require concurrence from the engineer responsible for the system.
3.7 All minor changes made during the performance of the test must be recorded in Section
6.0. Actual changes shall be initialed and dated by the engineer responsible for the system.
4.0 Test Equipment, Consumables and Miscellaneous Topics
4.1 Calibrated Test Equipment
The following test equipment shall be in calibration prior to the performance of this test procedure.
Instrument Description Serial No. Cal Date Cal Due Date Floor load cell* (R1)
12,000 lb capacity
Floor load cell* (R2)
Floor load cell* (R3)
Floor load cell* (R4)
* The floor load cells are Intercomp PT300.
4.2 General Test Equipment
4.2.1 Straps, slings and hoisting equipment capable of lifting LARS Base assemblies (5,000 lb or greater per lift point), installation fixtures (1,000 lb or greater per lift point), Bearing block adapter plates (800 lb per lift point), HPU Support beams (<200 lb) and the two ATP’s in the loaded configuration (40,000 lbs; refer to Ref. 2.1.3 and 2.1.4).
4.2.2 Suitable equipment to read load cell output if required.
4.2.3 Forklift capable of lifting 4,000 lbs.
4.2.4 Crane capable of lifting LARS Base assemblies (<40,000 lbs estimated per loaded ATP)
4.2.5 Miscellaneous shackles, pins, etc. necessary to attach straps, slings, load cells and other hoisting equipment to crane from items being hoisted.
4.3 Test Consumables
4.3.1 None.
4.4 Safety Precautions
4.4.1 Only personnel directly involved in the execution of this test shall be in the test area.
Personnel performing tests must not stand on or underneath items being hoisted. All applicable company safety regulations and requirements shall be followed during the performance of this test.
4.5 Hazardous Material/Waste Notes
4.5.1 None.
5.0 Test Procedure
Use reference 2.1.1 to identify equipment.
Recommend at least one tag line be affixed to the corner of any item hoisted to allow control of orientation and sway.
Record raw data using units native to the measuring device. Include units of measurement in data record.
5.1 Integration test.
5.1.1 Assemble pallet #1 per reference 2.1.3. Verify external dimensions are within 389” X 108” X 96”.
5.1.2 Assemble pallet #2 per reference 2.1.4. Verify external dimensions are within 384” X 108” X 96”.
5.2 Weight and CG test of LARS Base LSEC in shipping configuration
This test is to be completed for both shipping pallets as loaded in reference 2.1.3 and 2.1.4 and with slings arranged in accordance with reference 2.1.2.
5.2.1 Arrange the four floor load cells on shop floor in a 294” X 102” box as shown in Figure 1. Note that dimensions are from the centers of the load cell. Mark each load cell with a number as noted in Figure 1.
5.2.2 Set all four floor load cells to read zero. Initial column in Table 3 when scales are zeroed.
5.2.3 Hoist shipping pallet and center onto floor load cells (the forward end of the pallets per Ref.
2.1.3 and 2.1.4 are positioned near load cells 1 and 3 as shown in Figure 1). Disconnect all lifting equipment and move away from pallet.
5.2.4 Measure and record the distance from reference edge to Datum C (REFC) in Table 1. This is the distance from the edge nearest load cells 1 or 3.

Pallet #2
5.2.5 Measure and record the distance from reference edge to Datum D (REFD) in Table 2. This is the distance from the edge nearest load cells 3 or 4.

5.2.6 Read and record the output from all four floor load cells in Table 3.

5.2.7 Calculate the weight (Ws) and center of gravity in the lateral and longitudinal directions (CGxs and CGys) using the following formulas, and record in Table 4:
Ws = R1+R2+R3+R4
CGxs (inches) = (294” * (R2+R4) / Ws) + REFC
CGys (inches) = (102” * (R1+R2) / Ws) + REFD

Lat. CG CGys [inches]
5.2.8 Repeat Section 5.2 for shipping pallet #2.
6.0 Notes and Test Review
6.1 Notes. List any changes or deviations from this test procedure, along with justification.
6.2 Reviewer Notes. Test reviewer shall verify the test performed has met the objectives of the test procedure.
