NAVAIR Public Release Authorization SPR-2015-651. Distribution Statement A- Approved for Public Release; distribution is unlimited

Validated Capability Requirements The MQ-8 System addresses sea-based ISR capability gap

NAVCENT Urgent Operational Needs Statement (UONS) dated 15 May 2011 (Armed-Sea Based, Multi-INT, Unmanned Aerial Systems)* RADAR requirement

The “draft” Capability Production Document (CPD) For MQ-8C Fire Scout System captures the requirements for the MQ-8C Endurance Baseline, Surface Warfare (SUW) and Mine Countermeasures (MCM) Increments*

*Note: Internal Government Documents will not be made available to Offerors. Requirements are flowed into PBS and SOW provided to Offerors through FBO.

Requirements

NAVAIR Public Release Authorization SPR-2015-651. Distribution Statement A- Approved for Public Release; distribution is unlimited Overview:

The MQ-8C System will provide an organic persistent ISR capability to LCS or Suitably-Equipped Air Capable Ship (SEACS) supporting SUW missions as assigned or tasked.

The MQ-8C System will operate as a component of a composite aviation detachment (AVDET) employing the MH-60 and MQ-8.

With integrated RADAR, MQ-8C will dramatically increase maritime search, detection and localization capability and extend the area of influence for LCS or SEACS.

Tasking originates either from the host platform commander in support of independent steaming operations or from external sources, such as the daily collection plan from the numbered fleet or task force commander articulated in the air tasking order.

SUW Mission:

Conduct missions with a variety of payloads (EO/IR, LDRF, AIS, APKWS II, and RADAR) due to increased endurance and payload capacity.

Maritime RADAR and the EO/IR/LRDF afford the platform to cross cue and expand the utility of the MQ-8C as a surface surveillance coordination asset.

Expanded capabilities of RADAR can provide increased situational awareness and targeting information in support of surface units.

Integrated with APKWS II, the MQ-8C is capable of defeating soft to light armor moving and stationary small surface craft in defense of host platform or other surface vessels.
