About this file
This is a bid drawing document for the Moore Park Tennis Courts Improvements project prepared by the City of Pittsburgh Bureau of Facilities, Department of Public Works. The project encompasses resurfacing and improvements to three existing tennis courts located at 1801 Pioneer Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15226 (Project No. 2025-88509). The base bid scope includes demolition and disposal of existing asphalt and concrete pads, removal and reinstallation of existing fencing and a large bleacher structure, asphalt repaving with PennDOT Superpave specifications (1.5-inch minimum wearing course, 1.5-2 inches leveling/binder course, and 6 inches compacted base course), furnishing and installation of three sets of tennis posts and nets, and resurfacing and two-color striping of all three courts using SportMaster Sport Surfaces products in light green and light blue per existing court layouts. The drawings include a site plan (L-1), layout plan with specific dimensions (L-2), and construction details (CD.1 and CD.2) showing court layouts, concrete pad specifications for benches and receptacles, and equipment details. Four add-alternates are available for pricing: sub-base repair or replacement as needed, furnishing and installing four city player benches (Model DMTS 7.5 x 2), furnishing and installing a large aluminum bleacher, and furnishing and installing trash and recycling receptacles (Victor Stanley Model SD-42 with S-2A dome lids). Contractors must conduct a site visit to evaluate sub-base conditions prior to bidding, protect all on-site trees to the dripline or one foot per inch of tree diameter, repair any construction-related damage to existing facilities, and maintain all reseeded areas until grass is fully established.
The drawings specify that all fabricated metal components must be steel shotblasted, etched, phosphatized, and electrostatically powder-coated with polyester powder coatings averaging 8-10 mils thickness. The litter receptacle must be mounted with tamper-proof bolts per manufacturer recommendations, and all temporary fencing removal, storage, and reinstallation is the contractor's responsibility. Concrete bench and receptacle pad dimensions are provided as 8 feet by 2.5 feet and 5 feet by 2.5 feet respectively, with broom finish concrete paving required. The project site plan indicates the locations of proposed bench and pad installations as well as proposed trash and recycling locations near the courts and bleacher area.

BASE BID SCOPE OF WORK
COURTS 1 to 3:
1. Existing fence to remain. Vendor is responsible to remove and store fencing as needed to allow machinery access to courts, and reinstall after completion.
2. Saw cut along the perimeter of the fence (approx.
8") where needed. This will allow the existing asphalt to remain in place beneath the fencing.
The new asphalt will tie into the existing asphalt, allowing the fence to remain undisturbed.
3. Demolish and disposal existing asphalt and remove existing benches including concrete pads and footers.
4. Repave asphalt per detail.
5. Remove large bleacher and reinstall after completion.
6. Furnish and install set of tennis posts and Nets (3) per attachment specs.
7. Resurface (2 colors) and stripe tennis courts per existing layout.
ADD ALTERNATES
Add-alt 1: Repair / replace sub-grade as needed, per detail.
Add-alt 2: Furnish and install city player benches (4) per detail. See plans for locations and dimensions.
Add-alt 3: Furnish and install large aluminum bleacher. Per detail attached (DLW 5-15).
Add-alt 4: Furnish and install trash/recycling receptacles per detail. Location shown on site plan.
NOTES:
Contractor responsible for visiting the site and evaluating sub-base prior to bid.
Repave and resurface color coating on all tennis courts per existing layout.
Use SportMaster Sport Surfaces products in light green and light blue. See attachments for reference.
All trees on site MUST BE PROTECTED. Contractor will be liable for any damages to trees. Tree protection should be installed to the edge of the dripline of the tree. If that can't be maintained, the next fallback position is a radius equal to 1 ft for every inch in tree diameter.
Contractor to haul and dispose of all stripped and unusable materials.
Contractor to repair any damages to existing courts, walkways, or other park features that may occur during construction.
Contractor shall reseed all disturbed areas and provide maintenance until the grass is fully established
