About this file
This document outlines a federal contract opportunity for roadway improvements in Mojave National Preserve, California. The Federal Highway Administration, Central Federal Lands Highway Division, in coordination with the National Park Service, is seeking to improve approximately 17.1 miles of Cima Road, including installation of low water crossings and shoulder stabilization areas along Cima Road as well as spot locations on Kelbaker Road, Lanfair Road, and Cedar Canyon Road. The scope of work involves full depth reclamation and repaving of Cima Road to a consistent 26-foot width, minor roadway realignment, reinforcing low water crossings, and improving safety with rumble strips, signage, pavement markings and pullouts. Low water crossings will consist of buried concrete barriers and rip rap revetment. Additional improvements include a rip rap shoulder stabilization area and asphalt patching on Kelbaker Road, and two low water crossings and a roadway slope stabilization area on Lanfair and Cedar Canyon Roads. The construction period is estimated at 12 to 18 months to account for environmental constraints in the natural resource sensitive work area.
