About this file

This document is a response to questions (Q&A) for Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) Request for Proposal (RFP) MG-11032025, dated 12/03/2025. The document addresses two key vendor inquiries related to a technical procurement. First, regarding the heating system for a bake-out process, LBNL clarified that the vendor is not required to provide a bake-out controller and that the scope of supply is limited to integrating bake-out heaters onto the chamber, with a Horst 19" rack heating system potentially used for ALS installation and a variac acceptable for testing.

The second query concerned auxiliary components for the procurement. The vendor sought confirmation about specific MIL-C components, including 19-pin feedthroughs and connectors (air-side and vacuum-side), each requested in quantities of 10 pieces. LBNL responded by directing the vendor to an attached Excel file with tabs for "Auxiliary Components - Chamber" and "Auxiliary Components - Flexure" to provide comprehensive details about the auxiliary components within the procurement's scope of supply.

LBNL Response to Questions 04 Re: LBNL RFP MG-11032025 – 12/03/2025

1. Clarification regarding the heating system for the bake-out.

The system is included in the supply for each chamber but the vendor is asking if they also need to provide the controller, or LBNL is going to provide its controller (as far as the supplier understands from the AL-1697-2257 Rev. C: Horst 19” rack heating systems), in order to perform the Factory Acceptance Test.

LBNL Response: The vendor is not required to provide, or utilize, a bake-out controller. The Horst 19" rack heating system might be used for installation at ALS. For testing, a variac is an option. The scope of supply is limited to integrating the bake-out heaters onto the chamber.

2. The attached file, AL-1746-4743C – BOM, is difficult to read because it is a table divided into different pages, and it is not easy to associate the lines. Could LBNL please provide this file in Excel format?

Regarding the requested Auxiliary Components, are these components the following items?

19 pin MIL-C feedthrough - IFDRG197013 - 10 pcs

19 pin MIL-C connector, air-side - FTACIR19AC - 10 pcs

19 pin MIL-C connector, vacuum-side - FTACIR19V - 10 pcs

Are there any other Auxiliary Components?

LBNL Response: Please find the Excel version attached. See tab Auxiliary Components - Chamber and Auxiliary Components - Flexure for the auxiliary components in the scope of supply.
