About this file

This document is a project specification file containing aerial imagery and descriptions of two Wildlife Refuge tree removal projects.

The Lange WPA Tree Project covers 80 acres and involves cutting and piling scattered trees in the upland portion of Lange WPA. Trees must be cut at ground level with stumps chemically treated, except for cedar. The project encompasses trees ranging from small to large, with the majority being small to medium sized. Trees in the right-of-way adjacent to roads are included in scope. Dogwood, sumac, and plum shrubs, as well as trees growing into barbed wire boundary fence lines, may be left uncut. Tree piles must be positioned at least 100 yards from the fence line.

The Rolland WPA Tree Project covers 72 acres with identical specifications to the Lange project. Scattered trees in the upland portion require cutting at ground level and chemical stump treatment, excluding cedar. Work includes trees adjacent to roads within the right-of-way. Dogwood, sumac, plum shrubs, and trees intertwined with boundary fence barbed wire are excludable from removal. Tree piles must maintain a minimum distance of 100 yards from the fence line. Both projects are illustrated with aerial imagery showing the defined project boundaries and existing vegetation patterns.
