About this file
This document contains material specifications, performance standards, and quality assurance requirements for perforated window film graphics intended for exterior glass surfaces.
The material specifications mandate a 3M 8170-P40 perforated window film system comprised of three components: a cast vinyl base film with 4-mil nominal thickness, 60/40 visual obscurity ratio (60% printable area/40% perforation), and high gloss finish; a 3M 8518 Gloss Overlaminate for UV protection and moisture/debris barrier; and 3M Edge Sealer Tape 8914 for environmental sealing. All specifications include "Or Equal" requirements, allowing substitution of equivalent products meeting the stated salient characteristics. The warranty standard requires full comprehensive manufacturer coverage for a minimum of 2.0 years from installation, with reduced coverage of 1.4 years for high-UV geographic zones (Arizona, New Mexico, southern Nevada, southern Utah, southern California, and western Texas). Warranty coverage encompasses the complete graphic system including base film, inks, overlaminate, adhesive, and edge tape, with protection against physical defects, fading, cracking, crazing, peeling, blistering, lifting, ink degradation, and adhesive failure. The remedy includes replacement of defective materials and labor reimbursement for re-fabrication and re-installation, with clean removability guaranteed without damaging storefront glass during the warranty period. Quality assurance requirements mandate third-party G7 Certification for print quality ensuring consistent color calibration and brand color reproduction across production batches, a valid 3M MCS warranty certificate from the film manufacturer certifying the printer/installer as an authorized system converter/provider, and proof of active commercial general liability insurance meeting Department of War/United States Marine Corps standard contract thresholds.
