About this file
This is a Scope of Work document prepared by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) for wetland tree planting services across three locations: North, Grand, and University sites. The project involves planting native wetland trees and shrubs to restore and enhance wetland areas, with specific planting locations, species requirements, and installation standards detailed throughout the document. The scope outlines the contractor's responsibilities for site preparation, plant procurement, installation, establishment care, and monitoring during the establishment period. The work includes erosion control measures, invasive species removal, and post-planting maintenance to ensure plant survival and ecosystem establishment. Specific quantities of plant materials are identified by species and location, with particular attention to native tree and shrub species suitable for Michigan wetland conditions.
The document establishes detailed specifications for planting standards, including pit preparation dimensions, backfill requirements, mulching, and watering protocols to ensure successful plant establishment. The contractor must provide all labor, equipment, and materials necessary for project completion and is responsible for replacing any plants that fail to survive during the establishment period. The scope includes performance standards such as minimum survival rates and specifications for monitoring and documentation. Additional requirements address environmental compliance, invasive species management, and coordination with MDOT staff throughout the project duration, with particular emphasis on quality assurance and adherence to Michigan Department of Environmental Quality standards for wetland restoration.
