About this file

This is a utility locates instruction document for the City of Beaverton, Oregon, related to the Erickson Avenue Waterline Replacement project (2nd Street to 5th Street). The document provides comprehensive guidance for contractors performing utility locating and protection work in connection with the replacement of an existing 1940s-era 8-inch cast iron water main with approximately 1,060 linear feet of new ductile iron pipe. The project scope includes installing 1,020 feet of 12-inch pipe and 40 feet of 8-inch pipe, along with two system connections, one fire hydrant assembly, two water services, and associated valves and fittings. Work will occur within the roadway in a residential area adjacent to Beaverton High School, which is currently undergoing renovations. Contractors must coordinate with the school site contractor to maintain access throughout construction.

The document requires contractors to provide 48 hours' notice prior to excavation through the One Call System at (503) 246-6699, which covers multiple utilities including Frontier Communications, Northwest Natural Gas, Qwest, U.S. Sprint, Tualatin Valley Water, City of Beaverton, Portland General Electric, Clean Water Services, and Cable Television. Contractors must comply with Oregon Revised Statutes 757.541 to 757.571 and Oregon Administrative Rules 952-001-0010 through 952-001-0090 regarding utility protection and notification. Street closures require express approval from the City Traffic Engineer and notification to Beaverton School District Transportation at least 24 hours in advance. Contractors must maintain the project area free of debris and unused materials upon completion. Contact information is provided for emergency repairs for each utility provider.
