About this file

This document contains the 1st set of Questions and Answers (Q&As) related to the LBNL RFP HW-10152024 for Lambertson septum magnets for the Accumulator to Storage (ATS) Transfer Line and the Storage to Accumulator (STA) Transfer Line as part of the Advanced Light Source Upgrade Project (ALS-U) at Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory.

The key details are:

  • The vendor requested the model for the reference design to help speed up the quoting process and ensure all key components are included. LBNL provided CAD models of the Lambertson magnets and support stands, as well as a PDF showing examples of already manufactured transfer line dipoles.
  • The support stands for the magnets are not in the vendor's scope of work, as they are already fabricated and are LBNL's responsibility.

Text version

Below is the 1st set of Q&As for LBNL RFP HW-10152024;

1. Would it be possible to provide the model for the reference design? This would help speed up the quoting process and make sure we don’t miss any key components that LBNL would like included in the design.

A: The two STEP files are of Lambertson magnets. To give a better overview, models of the support stands are also included (as shown in the image in point 2). Electrical bus and its cover is not detailed in CAD models so the attached PDF file shows examples of already manufactured transfer line dipoles.

2. Are the support stands for these magnets expected to be provided by the vendor?

A: Supports are NOT in the scope of this procurement. They are LBNL responsibility and they are already fabricated.
