About this file

This is a Labor and Material Payment Bond form issued by the City of Jackson, Michigan for use in its Community Development Department housing rehabilitation program. The bond serves as a contractual guarantee between the principal contractor, a surety company, and the City of Jackson, and is required under Michigan Public Act No. 213 of 1963, as amended. The bond ensures that all subcontractors, laborers, and material suppliers are paid for work and materials provided in connection with the contract work, which in this case involves strip and replace roof and gutterwork at 115 West Euclid.

The bond requires the contractor to pay all indebtedness arising from subcontractors and suppliers as amounts become due and payable under the contract. The bond amount, contract date, and principal/surety information are to be completed at execution. The document stipulates that changes, alterations, modifications, time extensions, or forbearance by either party do not release the principal or surety from liability, and notice to the surety of such modifications is waived. The bond must be executed and witnessed by authorized officers of both the principal and surety, with the surety's attorney-in-fact required to attach a power of attorney document.
