About this file

This is a Justification for Sole Source document prepared by the City of Plant City, Florida, regarding the procurement of REXA actuators. The City intends to utilize TSC Jacobs as the sole authorized representative for REXA actuator products in Florida. The procurement supports the replacement of outdated control valves and installation of actuators at the City's Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) and Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). REXA actuators have been standardized throughout the City and require minimal modifications to the existing wiring conditions at the DRF for installation.

The justification emphasizes that REXA actuators are more cost-effective than competing products currently used at the WWTP, particularly because competitor actuators are sold without control panels. The replacement of the current outdated control valve through this sole source procurement is estimated to cost less than half the expense of replacing the valve through alternative means. The City has determined that REXA is the appropriate solution based on standardization, compatibility with existing infrastructure, cost advantages, and the necessity to address aging equipment that requires replacement.

Text version

REXA also fits our current wiring conditions at the DRF to where there are little to no modifications needed to install the actuator. REXA has been standardized throughout the City. REXA is also a cheaper actuator than the competitors that we currently use in the WWTP in which only come as the actuator and no control panels. This will also allow us to remove the current control valve that is outdated and currently needs to be replaced, which is double the amount if not more than this cost.
