About this file

This is an Amendment No. 1 to Solicitation No. JF481976 issued by Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) Procurement and Property Management on September 1, 2026, for the procurement of a TRANE CH-3 Centrifugal Chiller. The amendment addresses vendor questions regarding the scope of work and responsibility allocation between BNL, the chiller vendor, and separate contractors for various installation and support activities.

The amendment clarifies that the vendor's responsibilities are limited to delivery of the chiller and providing manufacturer-authorized installation support and startup/commissioning support. BNL assumes responsibility for unloading, rigging, and crane services for final placement of the chiller. The freight company engaged by the vendor is responsible for onsite transportation from Building 98 to the Central Chilled Water Facility. All other installation activities—including removal and disposal of the existing Chiller #3, mechanical piping connections, electrical installation and connections, and final installation work (excluding manufacturer startup and commissioning support)—are explicitly designated as outside the scope of this solicitation and will be handled by separate contractors. The amendment specifies that all material, work, and workmanship shall conform to the Contract Documents requirements.
