About this file

This document is a comprehensive lead-based paint (LBP) inspection report for the USFS Building T-150 located at Fort Missoula Road in Missoula, Montana. Conducted by Abatement Contractors of Montana on April 22, 2024, the inspection utilized an SciAps X-550 XRF analyzer to test 52 paint coating surfaces across the building. Key findings include lead-based paint detected on several exterior wood components, specifically wood louvers (9.5 mg/cm2), wood window trims (7.6 mg/cm2), and wood windows (4.9 mg/cm2), while most interior surfaces tested showed minimal or no lead content.

The report recommends special abatement considerations prior to renovation or demolition activities, noting that coatings containing over 1.0 mg/cm2 lead are governed by federal regulations. The inspection was structured for informational purposes and suggests that any painted surfaces not represented in the report should be treated as potentially lead hazardous. The report advises that lead-contaminated materials require special handling, including potential "burrito wrapping" in 6-mil plastic sheeting and disposal at facilities accepting lead hazardous waste, with all work requiring lead-qualified contractors and consultants to ensure proper removal and containment.
