2. All planted and dirt areas shall be raked and replanted to remove and restore any area affected or disturbed by this construc on process.
3. Rejected materials or workmanship shall be replaced by contractor at no addi onal costs to the Government. Rejected materials shall be removed from project site on the day of rejec on, replacement material shall be provided as soon as possible.
4. All measurements and quan es are approximate, it is the bidder’s responsibility to verify all quan es for bid submi als, contractor may request on site visit from COR prior to bidding.
5. Finished product shall be fully func onal, free from defect, and voids.
Contractor shall provide 2‐year warranty on workmanship.
B. Details of work to be performed.
1. Verify there are no underground u li es in the area to be disturbed, contact sunshine
811, or visi ng Sunshine811.com and submi ng a cket prior to star ng any excava on or boring.
2. Excavate the loca on AFM (Automa c Fee Machine) slab, foo ng for the AFM slab, and bollards and area at the main electrical panel as needed. The contractor shall use forms made of wood, metal, or plas c form the upper slab, while earth or other materials are perfectly suitable for the underground por ons of the pad’s foo ngs.
3. Install the conduit from the power panel to the loca on of the AFM pad loca on to a depth of not less than 36‐inches. Cu ng and excava ng/trenching the current asphalt perpendicular to the road is required so as a patch and speed bump can be installed to protect the asphalt patch and stop cars appropriately for paying at the AFM. Direc onal boring is acceptable and eliminates the need for patching the exis ng asphalt or concrete. The method used shall be the best value to the tax payer.
4. Contractor shall fill all excavated areas; fill, and compact in 6‐inch li s. Lay detectable tape sta ng, “Cau on Buried Electric Line Below,” 1‐foot above all buried electrical conduit. Use cold asphalt patch material as per the manufacturer’s instruc ons.
Compact the cold patch every 2 inches of fill un l the patch is at the same thickness and to the same eleva on as the surrounding asphalt, leave a slight crown. Should direc onal boring be used to install the conduit, patching and installa on of cau on tape is not needed. Install the 36‐inch‐wide speed bump with end caps centered over the patch to protect the cold patch and stop vehicles appropriately (approximately 5 1/2 feet in font of the AFM electrical stub up) to use the AFM. The speed bump is to span the en re width of the road.
5. Contractor shall install electrical conduit, 2 gang outdoor weatherproof electrical box, moun ng struts, and stub up AFM conduit. The AFM conduit is to be stubbed up to an eleva on of 35‐inches above the final slab for the future installa on of the AFM pedestal, see plans for all eleva ons. Prepare the main electrical panel, this includes all
PVC conduit, stainless conduit from the electrical panel and 2 gang electrical box on the
AFM pad. The stainless steel conduit mounted to the panel and boxes is to transi on to
PVC conduit at a depth not less than 18‐inches under the final grade. Clean rust/corrosion from exis ng main electrical panel, prime and paint to prevent future degrada on, install new conduit into the exis ng knock out that is open and not in use. If another knockout is used, install a proper blanking plug into all exis ng knock‐out hole/s that are not used and seal to prevent future removal, or the infiltra on of moisture, rodents, rep les, and insects into the electrical panel. Check to see that the conduit is clear and able to have the wires pulled through the conduit. Cap the conduit ends to prevent concrete, and other objects from entering the conduit while the forms, reinforcing bar, and concrete is installed.
6. Any fill under the AFM pad and foo ng that must to be added in 6‐inch li s and compacted using a mechanical compac on device such as a vibratory plate or jumping jack compactor to ensure the soil under the AFM is properly compacted prior to installing the forms, reinforcing bar, and pouring the concrete.
7. Form up the concrete 3‐foot by 4‐foot AFM pad using wood, metal, or plas c forms. The
1‐foot by 1 ½‐foot foo ng may be formed with earth forms.
8. Install reinforcing bar and “L‐bolts”, keeping a minimum of 2 inches from any surface to prevent future corrosion and eventual spalling of the concrete. Set the reinforcing bar on
2‐inch concrete chairs (dobie blocks) to maintain the 2‐inch minimum spacing from the bo om of the form work. Adjust the outlet hole and reinforcing bar as needed to maintain the 2‐inch spacing from edges.
9. Mix and pour 5000 psi concrete, equivalent to Quickrete 5000 as per the plans and finish with a nonslip broom finish.
10. Install electrical, pull all 5 wires and the ground through the conduit into the electrical boxes, leaving enough wire to properly install the circuit breakers, and GFI outlets, electrical box grounding, and pull to the stub up for the AFM. leave a minimum of 3‐feet of wire extending out of the conduit and fasten (tape to the conduit) so the wires cannot be pulled back into the conduit. Install the 20‐amp 120‐volt and 240‐volt circuit breakers, lightening arrester, and surge protector on the main electrical panel leaving a drip loop to divert water that may wind up traveling down the wires away from the lightening arrestor, surge protector, and circuit breakers. See the plans for details regarding wiring, circuit breaker, lightening arrestor, surge proctor, and the drip loop configura ons. Be sure that all circuit breakers are properly and permanently labeled. Lockout the 240 volt circuit breaker to the future AFM machine making arrangements with the COR as to who will keep the lock out key.
11. Clean up is to include removal of all debris from construc on, raking all disturbed areas that are not concrete or asphalt and disposing of all raked up debris, replan ng with sod all areas that were disturbed in the construc on process. Sweeping, or washing all asphalt and concrete affected by the construc on process. When demobiliza on takes place, the area shall be le in the same condi on it was found in upon mobiliza on.
12. Traffic control is the responsibility of the Contractor. Signage and barricades will be provided by the Contractor to route visitors around the construc on site during construc on.
