About this file
These documents are detailed engineering and design drawings for the La Mina and Big Tree Trail Rehabilitation Project located in El Yunque National Forest, Puerto Rico. The comprehensive set of drawings, prepared for the USDA Forest Service (Region 8), covers multiple aspects of trail reconstruction, including:
Trail rehabilitation involves extensive work across approximately 39 station points, featuring trail widening, reconstruction, bridge repairs/replacements, guardrail installations, and stair improvements. Key elements include constructing reinforced concrete retaining walls, installing new trail surfaces with anti-slip epoxy, replacing/repairing multiple bridges (numbered 1-14), creating passing lanes, reconstructing stairs, and implementing erosion control measures. The project involves precise engineering specifications for trail alignments, elevation profiles, foundation details, and structural components, with careful consideration of the challenging forest terrain and environmental preservation. Drawings include detailed plans for site preparation, structural reinforcement, drainage management, and preservation of existing natural features.
