About this file

This is a Local Business Preference submittal form for the City of Austin, Texas, related to a solicitation for Mattresses and Box Spring Sets and Bed Frames for Austin Fire and Austin EMS. The form is optional and designed to encourage local businesses to participate in City of Austin procurements. Offerors meeting the specified criteria are encouraged to complete and submit the form with their offer, though participation is not required to respond to the solicitation. The City defines a Local Business as any person or corporate entity with headquarters located within the Austin-Round Rock-San Marcos Metropolitan Statistical Area, which encompasses Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Travis, and Williamson counties in the Greater Austin area. Headquarters is defined as either the location where owners or leadership provide direction and management of the entity, or the location of the entity's Administrative Center where most important business and operational activities are managed.

Offerors seeking to claim local business preference must certify their headquarters address and physical location, and identify whether their headquarters serves as either the location of the entity's owners or leadership, the location of the entity's Administrative Center, or both. The City reserves the right to request additional information to confirm an offeror's headquarters status and may verify information using resources such as federal geographic mapping tools and the Texas CPA Office of Accounts. Misrepresentation of headquarters information may result in the City withholding any available preference, disqualifying the offeror from the resulting contract if the error was determined to be intentional, or voiding the contract if misrepresentation is discovered after award. Local Business Preference may not be allowable and will not be provided in solicitations subject to federal funding.
