HSFLGL-13-B-00004 Renovate Building 64, FLETC, Glynco, GA Questions and Answers Numbers 1 through 14: 8/22/13
1. Question regarding specification section 32 11 16 .16 paragraph 2.1 Subbase Course for Pervious Paving. This section states that we have to achieve a bearing ratio of 30 with the gradation of aggregate provided. Looking at the gradation there are no "fines" included in it and we do not feel that we would be able to achieve the bearing ratio required with this gradation. Is there another gradation of material or method that would be acceptable to the government for the installation of this base material? On other projects that we have installed pervious concrete paving, we have installed # 5 stone for the subbase course, but we were not required to achieve a bearing ratio.
Please advise if there any alternatives. Reply: Material shall meet ASTM per specification. #5 is acceptable if it meets the gradation table in paragraph 2.1.
2. Question: The Engineer didn't mention ALC in the control spec as per the solicitation, but I forgot he also needs to add that the Control Contractor shall be a "First Tier" subcontractor as we have been on 99% of all the other projects on the base. This is the same as the Fire Alarm Contractor.
Reply: Refer to spec 23 09 23.13 20 para 2.1: This calls for Automated Logic. Fire Alarm is also discussed in the spec section as stated above.
3. Question: Section 03 30 00, Cast-In-Place Concrete; Page 11, para 2.3.1, references Water - Cement ratio at 0.50. Page 13, para 2.4.2, requires a 0.45 Water - Cement ratio. (45% by weight) Which is correct? Reply: Provide water / cement ratio in accordance with Page13, para 2.4.2 (45% by weight).
4. There is no symbol or description for $M2 on sheet E001. There are approximately 55 of them on the EL Drawings. Please clarify. Reply: This is a wall switch with a dual technology and dual relay capability. SensorSwitch #WSD PDT 2P or technically equal.
5. There is no symbol or description for DSP on sheet E001. There are approximately 4 of them on Sheets EL100 & EL300. Please clarify. Reply: This is a 12-24 VAC/VDC low voltage dimmer capable of 0-10V Dimming.
6. There is no symbol or description for SP on sheet E001. There are approximately 2 of them on Sheets EL100 & EL300. Please clarify. Reply: This is a secondary power pack. SensorSwitch #SP20 or technically equal.
7. Sheet ED101 is a concrete ductbank required for all underground raceway (data, telephone, T.V., & Power) or just data & telephone? Reply: Data and Telephone. See ED101 detail 5. Electrical ductbank must be separate from Data and Telephone.
8. Sheet EL100 Details 2, 3, & 4 & Sheet EL200 Details 2 & 3. Are the relays actually contactors or is the intent to parallel relays (if needed) Reply: Contactors.
9. EP100 Detail 5 are the device plates supposed to be engraved or labeled? Reply: Detail 5/EP100 indicates that each wallplate be labeled with an engraved phenolic label containing ¼” high, black text identifying panelboard name, circuit number, switched, and unswitched.
10. EP100 Detail 5 are all receptacles plates labeled (or engraved) or just the office “QUAD” receptacles? Reply: All receptacle wallplates are to be labeled with an engraved phenolic label containing ¼” high, black text identifying panelboard name and circuit number.
11. EP100, EP200, & EP300 Key Notes 1&2. APC Netshelter AR3150 42U or Approved Equal.
APC Netshelter AR3150 42U or Approved Equal (containing patch panels). Is this equipment supposed to be furnished by the electrical contractor? Reply: Yes. See specifications for type of patch panels to be supplied.
12. EP100 Detail 2 and Sheet ES101. What size N3R Hinged Junction Box is required for the five-4” Conduits for fiber optics & the one-1 ½” for T.V. cable or do we size them per code? Reply: The Nema 3R hinged junction boxes shall be sized per NEC.
13. Typical for all EWH (electric water heaters). The drawings indicate a combination circuit breaker & motor starter. Can an enclosed circuit breaker or disconnect be used instead? Per manufacturer a motor starter is not required. Reply: The symbol for the water heaters was not in the legend. The symbol you are referring to has the top and bottom triangle shaded. The symbol next to the water heaters has the left and right triangles shaded. The symbol for the water heaters is a flush mounted circuit breaker style switch mounted adjacent to the water heater and labeled as water heater disconnect.
14. ES101 “EUS” Existing underground secondary to be demolished. Can the conduit be abandoned in place after conductors are removed or are removal of conduit required? Reply: Cut conduits off 18” below grade and abandon in place.
15. Please ref. drawing AE108 Section resilient accessories schedule…Please let us know the rooms where the CR & WB are required. Reply: In Corridors, Conference Rooms, Lobbies, and Break Rooms.
