4. Reply to the following Requests for Clarification:
Question 1: This is in reference to Work Item D-25; Flex Hose Assemblies, Renew;
Paragraph 2: Reference 750-WMSL-505-006 Rev. D, List of Hoses (ASC505006) was not on the reference CD. Is this reference available?
Answer to Question 1: No. This drawing is still going through revision and is not available.
Question 2: This is in reference to Work Item D-02; Main Propulsion Diesel Engine, Exhaust Piping, Commercial Cleaning; Paragraph 3.5.1: The drawings show the expansion joints as being welded at one end and flange bolted at the other, thus they could not be removed without cutting them at the weld, is that correct?
Answer to Question 2: Elevation 3-B of Sheet 3 of CG Dwg 750 WMSL 259-11 shows a clean-out connection just up from the expansion joint. If the expansion joint is welded into place and cannot be removed, it is acceptable to the Coast Guard to break the piping at the upstream flange on the expansion joint and blank it to prevent contamination, then clean out the pipe through the clean out connection. It is not the intent to break any welded joints in this specification item.
Question 3: This is in reference to Work Item D-02; Main Propulsion Diesel Engine, Exhaust Piping, Commercial Cleaning; Paragraph 3.5.1: In order to clarify the Start and or End pending which direction the cleaning starts. For our purpose The MDE exhaust cleaning starts at the first Expansion Joint PC 16 on page 3 of 7 750-WMSL-259-011 which is bolted to the forward MDE Exhaust Manifold, terminating up through to the top of the stack?
Is That Correct?
Answer to Question 3: Yes. Starting at the expansion joint and cleaning up to the stack is satisfactory.

A: How many Sea Chest Cofferdams are to be installed?
B: Please identify the size of each intended Cofferdam?
C: Confirm the Cofferdams are contractor supplied?

A. Contractor to count the number of required cofferdams based on other work in the spec package.
B. Cofferdams are related to the work being done in the separate work items. Ship check may be required.
C. Cofferdams are contractor supplied.
Question 5: This is in reference to Work Item D-23; Deck Covering (Slip Resistant), Renew; Figure 1: Figure 1 CIWS Deck shows the Ammo and Flare Boxes, are these to be removed as interference’s for preservation underneath?
Answer to Question 5: Boxes that are bolted to their foundation shall be temporarily moved and reinstalled after completion. Boxes that are welded in place shall not be disconnected from the foundations but the Contractor shall work around them.
