PWS Section 5.1, pg 11

Can you explain what controlled versus uncontrolled means in further detail?

As outlined in PWS 5.1 Transcription Services, “The contractor will have the capability to transfer audio recordings recorded in controlled and uncontrolled (where the ambient sounds fluctuate so as to make the material more difficult to transcribe) environments as requested."

The majority of our transcripts are controlled meaning they are audio files from interviews conducted in a conference or meeting room (controlled setting). Some of the audio files may have been interviews conducted outside or in a setting where it is possible that ambient sounds fluctuate and may make the material more difficult to transcribe.

In the past, we have experienced a higher per page price for uncontrolled transcripts. This is understood to be standard industry terminology for these environments.
