Text version

Access to Fort McNair:

1. Use the 2nd Street gate, as the main (ceremonial) gate is for CAC holders only.

2. The nearest Metro stop is Waterfront (Green Line). They will need to walk, taxi or Uber to the front gate from there. If taking a taxi, I recommend they exit the taxi on the street just outside the gate, so they don't have to wait for a vehicle search (they will still be subject to the background check).

3. Bring a government-issued ID (driver's license)

4. All non-CAC holders are subject to search/background check procedures. Plan on at least 30 minutes to go through the search procedure.

5. Perry Center is on the 3rd floor of Lincoln Hall (Building 64), which is the large building you see in front of you as you go past the guard checkpoint at the 2nd Street gate.

6. If driving, park in the parking lot in front of Lincoln Hall, anywhere that is not marked "Reserved" or "Car Pool". There is no charge for parking.

A map with directions is attached for reference.
