SOFGSD Labor Category Description

1) Intelligence Analyst An Intelligence Analyst is responsible for gathering, analyzing, and interpreting information to support decision-making and ensure national security. They evaluate threats, identify patterns, and provide actionable intelligence to commanders and leaders. This role can involve studying foreign military capabilities, analyzing cyber threats, or various investigations. Areas of focus may include: Identity Intelligence Exploitation, Information Operation, Counterintelligence (CI) / Human Intelligence (HUMINT), Socio-Cultural, Pattern Analysis Section (PAS), Identity Operations Manager, Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), Counter Unmanned Arial Surveillance.

2) Foreign Disclosure Officer FDO is responsible for the promotion, administration, and management of all phases of the Foreign Disclosure Program through foreign disclosure procedures, policies and training, both internal to the organization and in an advisory/oversight capacity. Serve as the representative for all foreign disclosure program related matters.

3) Executive Administrative Assistant An Executive Administrative Assistant provides high-level administrative support to executives, ensuring smooth operations and effective communication within the organization. They manage calendars, schedule meetings, coordinate travel, provide protocol support, and handle sensitive information.

4) Logistic Analyst A Logistics Analyst is responsible for ensuring the efficient and cost-effective movement of goods and materials across the supply chain. This involves coordinating with various military services and agencies, analyzing logistics data, and developing strategies to optimize resource utilization and minimize costs. They also play a key role in developing and implementing logistics plans, monitoring supply chain operations, and identifying areas for improvement.

5) Strategic Planner or Program Analyst Strategic Planner develops and executes strategic plans, analyzes risks, and supports operational planning, providing expert guidance and recommendations to senior leadership. They conduct research, prepare reports, and facilitate coordination across different departments to inform strategic decision-making and ensure compliance with regulations and policies.

A Program Analyst's primary function is to support program managers in the execution of programs. This involves a range of activities, including defining requirements, providing inputs to program scope, assisting with scheduling and budgeting, and monitoring deliverables.

6) Role Players – LREC An LREC Role Player will have cultural expertise in the region associated with Target Language (TL), general knowledge of Middle Eastern and African geopolitical issues, and familiar with idiomatic expressions, colloquialisms, and vocabulary specific to specified TL; the intricacies of sectarian issues within the government,(ie: influences within the Ministries of Defense/Interior); familiarity with the structure and organizational terminology related to the TL military, militia groups, and non-military organizations. Familiarity with Allied military operations, equipment, tactics and procedures is preferred.

7) Physical Security Manager A Physical Security Manager is responsible for safeguarding facilities, personnel, and information by implementing and managing physical security systems, policies, and procedures. They ensure compliance with regulations and maintain a secure environment to protect sensitive information and assets.

8) Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) Training and Personnel Recovery Specialist A Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape Training and Personnel Recovery Specialist is responsible for preparing, planning, executing, and adapting personnel recovery efforts. They train others in SERE tactics, techniques, and procedures, equipping them with knowledge to survive and return safely from various hostile environments and evade capture.

9) Analytical and Operational Planning SME An Analytical and Operational Planning SME is responsible for providing specialized knowledge and expertise in developing and executing strategic and tactical plans. This role involves analyzing complex operational scenarios, understanding policies and procedures, coordinating with organizational leadership, and supporting the planning and execution of various operations.

10) Exercise Planner or Instructor An Exercise Planner/Instructor is responsible for designing, coordinating, and executing training exercises to enhance military readiness. This role involves developing training objectives, creating realistic scenarios, managing exercise resources, and evaluating outcomes to improve future training efforts.

11) Lessons Learned SME A Lessons Learned SME will be responsible to capture, document and archive best practices and lessons learned covering the planning, organizing, and program documentation. They will apply organizational design parameters measures including analysis reporting, data management and validation. Perform expert-level analysis through quantitative/qualitative research, independent evaluations of operations, exercises, wargames and experimentations to assess the effectiveness of program and develop standards for new and/or existing requirements to alter training for operational missions.

12) Language Developer or Instructor A Language Developer is primarily responsible for developing and/or adapting curriculum for use by others in delivering foreign language instruction to military personnel. A Language Instructor is primarily responsible for the instruction of a curriculum to military personnel.

13) Regional and Cultural Instructor or Developer A Regional and Cultural Instructor or Developer’s position involves identifying, developing, and implementing programs to enhance student’s knowledge about specific regions and cultures. This often focuses on language, customs, and social dynamics relevant to military operations. They may use various teaching methods, including classroom instruction, simulations, and real-world case studies, to prepare students for deployment or cultural nuances within their operational environments.

14) Faculty and staff at the undergraduate or graduate-level Faculty and staff at the undergraduate or graduate-level will work to prepare various forces to shape the future strategic environment by providing specialized joint professional military education, developing curriculum and by fostering research, analysis, and outreach in support of objectives. These positions may include such positions as: Instructional Systems Design (ISD), Learning Management Systems Specialist (LMS), Academic Instructors, and Distance Learning Instructors.

15) Role Players – Exercise A Role Player - Exercises play various roles, including civilians, enemy combatants, or other simulated personnel, reacting to scenarios and student actions in a dynamic and realistic manner. They will simulate individuals or groups within a training environment, enhancing realism and effectiveness of training simulations. The Role Players must be able to adapt to various physical demands, changing scenarios, maintaining character within role, and providing feedback to instructors.
