About this file

This document outlines a federal contract opportunity for Giant Sequoia Emergency Response (GSER) Stewardship services on the Sequoia and Sierra National Forests in California. The contract aims to increase resiliency of targeted Giant Sequoia groves to wildfire by addressing fuels buildup through a combination of hand and mechanical treatments. Multiple awards will be made to ensure rapid completion by December 2023. Treatments will occur across several groves, and include hand falling, piling, mechanical cutting, skidding, decking, and product removal. An estimated 50,919 tons of mixed conifer saw timber, biomass, and cull logs must be removed from the Landslide, Indian Basin, and Black Mountain Groves. Pre-solicitation site visits will be held in October 2022. Quotes are due in October 2022 and the contract will be awarded using best value with a firm fixed price. The Department of Agriculture Forest Service will administer the contract.
